Public Involvement Specialist

Long-Term Contract Opportunity Location: Reading, PA Travel: Approximately 25% within Pennsylvania
We are seeking a Public Involvement Specialist to support a suite of electrical infrastructure upgrades tied to renewable energy development projects in New Jersey. This role will focus on stakeholder engagement, public outreach, and communication strategy development to support multi-year permitting, siting, and construction initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who can effectively engage with the public, coordinate outreach activities, and support project teams by delivering clear, organized, and professional communications throughout all phases of project execution.
Key Responsibilities

Coordinate communication and public involvement activities for multi-year permitting, siting, and construction projects.
Develop and implement project communication strategies and public outreach plans.
Serve as a liaison between project managers, contractors, stakeholders, and the public.
Manage public inquiries and project commitments related to construction activities.
Support positive community relations by providing timely issue resolution and project updates.
Execute strategic outreach initiatives including:
Newsletters and fact sheets
Website content
Telephone information lines
News releases
Public meetings and open houses
Comment forms and mailing lists
Responses to public inquiries
Assist with outreach materials development, event logistics, and participation in public meetings.
Log and manage inquiries through public information hotlines and stakeholder databases.
Provide graphic and presentation support for promotional and outreach initiatives.
Run and distribute reports from Stakeholder Management Systems.
Organize and maintain project information files and coordinate outreach updates with project teams and clients.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Environmental Studies, or a related field from an accredited program required.
3–10 years of professional experience in public involvement, communications, community outreach, or related fields.
Prior internship or related experience is a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage priorities, schedules, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to understand technical information and communicate it effectively to the public.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Basic analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Design and presentation software experience is a plus.
High level of professionalism and customer service skills.
