POSITION: Elementary Music Teacher/Choir Director
LOCATION: Mitchell Elementary and Bethlehem Elementary Schools
START DATE: August 24, 2026 (New Faculty Orientation August 19th and 20th)
DEADLINE DATE: June 5, 2026
GENERAL DUTIES: A Region 14 music teacher works to implement the National Core Arts Standards. Region 14 teachers are leaders in their fields and specialize in meeting students' needs in and across a variety of State and National Standards while maintaining and furthering a positive school and classroom climate and culture. Region 14 music teachers work with the Director of Fine Arts to engage in data analysis and continually develop research-based lessons that meet the needs of all students. A commitment to researching and implementing effective and dynamic strategies for tier one instruction is required. Region 14 music teachers strive for excellence and engage students in productive struggle to support them in developing the habits of mind and foundational skills necessary to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally while developing an appreciation for music.
QUALIFICATIONS: Connecticut Certification Endorsement 049 (Music PreK-12)
Major Duties And Responsibilities

Instruct, guide, discipline and supervise in accordance with Region 14's goals and objectives, the Professional Code of Responsibilities, and the district's framework for evaluation and support
Acknowledge and respect individual differences in each student, holding high standards for every student while scaffolding for dependent learners to reach standards
Foster creativity, musical expression, respect, and a lifelong love of music
Teach foundational music concepts and skills through singing, movement, playing of instruments, technology, and hands-on learning experiences
Instruct and direct elementary chorus students in early vocal development, healthy singing techniques, and music literacy in preparation for and performance in school concerts and other performances
Establish and maintain sound relationships with students, parents, fellow teachers, non-teaching personnel, and administrators to work collaboratively in the best interests of the students
Seek and act on feedback from the Director of Fine Arts, colleagues, and administrators
Establish and maintain frequent communication with parents, guardians, and families
Evaluate student needs based on data and employ a variety of instructional strategies to meet these needs
Actively participate in professional learning opportunities provided by the district and incorporate new learning into instructional practices
Pursue continuous professional growth to stay abreast of changes in the field
Perform additional duties, where appropriate, which are assigned within the scope of employment and certification
