Job Summary
The Web Developer II is responsible for front-end and back-end development, maintenance, and enhancement of secure, accessible, and user-centered web applications. This role supports Internet, Intranet, Wiki, and social media platforms, ensuring compliance with federal web standards, accessibility requirements, and best practices for usability, performance, and security.
Education
Associate’s Degree in Web Development, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
Acquia Drupal certifications are encouraged but not required.
Experience Required
3+ years of professional experience in web design and development.
Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience developing and maintaining web applications using:
Drupal (CMS implementation, migration, and integration)
HTML5
CSS2/3
JavaScript
PHP
Python
jQuery
Working knowledge of modern development and deployment tools and technologies, including:
Node.js
Git
Chrome developer tools
Jenkins (CI/CD)
SEO and web marketing best practices
Exposure to backend frameworks and application integration.
Federal web standards experience preferred.
Core Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain front-end and back-end web applications.
Plan and manage content and functionality for Internet, Intranet, Wiki, and social media platforms.
Implement, migrate, integrate, and support content management systems, with a strong emphasis on Drupal.
Support content updates, enhancements, and ongoing site improvements.
Ensure web applications are secure, scalable, and performant.
Apply web usability principles, including site architecture, navigation, knowledge management, and information delivery.
Collaborate with application developers to integrate web applications and services.
Use graphic design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and GIMP to support visual and UI needs.
Perform testing and validation to ensure compliance with:
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Apply knowledge of internet security principles and protocols.
Ensure appropriate use of copyrighted materials in accordance with U.S. copyright laws.
