The York Theatre | New York, NY Compensation: $27,000 (3 productions)

The York Theatre is seeking a Production Manager for the 2026–2027 season, which includes three productions: Truly, Howard Hughes; Kilgallen; and the New2NY series. The contract begins June 1, 2026 and concludes on April 14, 2027.

Truly, Howard Hughes: Rehearsals begin mid-August 2026, with tech and previews in early September 2026, running through October 5, 2026.

Kilgallen: Rehearsals begin late October 2026, with load-in and tech in mid-to-late November, previews beginning November 28, and load-out December 28–31, 2026.

New2NY: Rehearsals begin late February 2027, with load-in February 28, tech and previews beginning in early March, and load-out April 12–14, 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate all production departments including scenic, costumes, lighting, sound, and props
  • Oversee and maintain the production budget, tracking expenditures across all departments
  • Schedule and supervise load-in, load-out, tech rehearsals, and all venue-related activities
  • Coordinate offsite rehearsal logistics and manage the transition into the theatre
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the venue and all production vendors and rental companies
  • Ensure all work is executed safely and in compliance with Union and venue regulations
  • Supervise department heads and support the broader production team throughout the rehearsal and run process
  • Troubleshoot logistical and technical challenges as they arise

Qualifications

  • 3+ years as a Production Manager, Associate Production Manager, or Technical Director in a professional theatrical setting
  • Strong knowledge of technical theatre disciplines including scenic construction, rigging, lighting, and sound
  • Experience working within union labor protocols
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and budget management skills
  • Ability to remain calm and solution-oriented under pressure and tight deadlines

Compensation

$9,000 per production ($27,000 total) – flat fee per production. Total contract runs June 2026 through load-out in April 2027.
