Contract Graphics Reporter

Seeking a creative and technically skilled Contract Graphics Reporter, this full-time position will involve conceiving, reporting, and executing visual-first stories, particularly focused on the 2026 midterm elections, with flexible hours between 25 and 40 per week, either onsite in Washington, D.C. or remotely within the U.S.
Key responsibilities:

Proactively pitch, report, and execute visual stories in a fast-paced newsroom environment
Create maps, graphics, and interactive storytelling to illustrate electoral trends and political dynamics
Collaborate with reporters, editors, and developers to produce engaging visual journalism optimized for digital platforms

Required qualifications:

Experience in graphics, data reporting, or a related field
A strong portfolio of maps, information graphics, and visual stories for digital audiences
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator is essential
Experience covering elections or knowledge of political data is strongly preferred
Technical proficiency in tools such as D3, React, or modern web technologies is a plus
