Rising Stars Summer Theatre - Technical Director
LOCATION: Upper Freehold Regional School District Stone Bridge Middle School Allentown, NJ EFFECTIVE DATE: July 1 - August 10, 2026 REPORTS TO: Rising Stars Director
Overview: Stone Bridge Middle School is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and collaborative Technical Director to support our Rising Stars Summer Theatre Program. The candidate will be responsible for overseeing and executing all technical aspects of the musical production with a primary responsibility as the Front of House Audio Engineer for the performances. This position collaborates closely with the director to design and manage sound systems, lead scenic construction, and support lighting, backstage operations, and overall technical production needs. This role is an excellent opportunity to work with a passionate team, help create an unforgettable theatrical performance, and serve as a mentor to young performing arts students.
Must be available to work 4 days a week, 8:45AM - 1:45PM, Monday through Thursday, July 1 - August 10, 2026. Must also be available in the evening during Show Week - August 3 - 6, 2026.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all technical aspects of the production, including scenery, lighting, sound, projections, backstage operations, and rigging.
Lead the construction, installation, maintenance, and strike of scenic elements.
Collaborate with the director to ensure technical elements support the artistic vision of the production
Serve as the sound designer and serve as the audio engineer for the production
Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment
Ability to lift and move theatrical equipment and scenery (often 4050 lbs)
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Rising Stars Summer Theatre Director.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in theatrical production, technical theatre, or stage management in an educational setting.
Experience supervising crews, students, or volunteers.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Effective communication and leadership skills.
Strong knowledge and experience of: Scenic construction Power tools, building platforms, flats, & set pieces Ability to read and interpret scenic and technical drawings Rigging and backstage operations Lighting systems Strand Lighting Systems preferred & Show Cue Systems Software Sound systems Yamaha & Roland digital soundboards preferred Wireless microphone systems and QLab or similar playback software
Candidates are expected to supply and utilize their own standard set construction tools and equipment necessary for scenic build and technical production work.
