Summary
Facilitate the effective use of computers and other technology in instructional programs districtwide. Assist in the development of short‑ and long‑range plans for the integration of technology into the instructional program. Implement and coordinate the technology staff development and training program.
Staff Development
Provide leadership and technical expertise to principals and other district personnel in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of effective instructional technology throughout the district.
Direct and coordinate the development and implementation of a comprehensive staff development plan for the use of instructional technology.
Provide staff development to teachers and administrators in methods of involving technology in the delivery of the curriculum.
Curriculum Development
Ensure the integration of technology in the existing curriculum.
Direct the writing of curriculum for technology programs and monitor the instructional process in all content areas using technology.
Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments in technology education at the state and national level.
Develop and implement a continuing evaluation of the instructional technology program and implement changes based on the findings.
Technical Support
Assist with the bidding process, purchase, distribution, maintenance, and installation of hardware, software, and other technological equipment and materials within instructional programs.
Serve as liaison to outside vendors that provide support for technology equipment and materials.
Budget
Administer the instructional technology budget and ensure that program is cost effective and funds are managed prudently.
Compile budget and cost estimates.
Coordinate the selection of technology equipment and software; maintain a database of all instructional software in the district.
Policy, Reports, and Law
Assist in the development of policies and procedures regarding technology issues.
Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in the area of instructional technology.
Compile, maintain, and present all reports, records, and other documents required.
Personnel Management
Assist in the recruitment and selection of personnel and make sound recommendations relative to placement, assignment, discipline, and dismissal.
Evaluate the performance of instructional technology personnel to ensure effectiveness.
Develop training options and improvement plans for technology personnel to ensure best operation of programs.
Other Responsibilities
Maintain confidentiality.
Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
Participate in meetings and special events as assigned.
Exercise professional judgment in absences; be punctual to work, meetings, and appointments.
Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel.
Education and Experience
Master's degree in educational administration preferred.
Three years experience as a classroom teacher.
Three years experience working with computer hardware and instructional software applications.
Skills and Abilities
Language: Ability to read, write, and speak effectively in related contexts.
Mathematical: Ability to calculate figures, percentages, apply basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Technology: Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications; knowledge of technologies available for instructional use.
Curriculum: Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation.
Training: Ability to develop and deliver technology training to adult learners.
Budget: Ability to manage budget and personnel.
Coordination: Ability to coordinate district functions.
Organization: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Research: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field.
Communication: Ability to communicate clearly in both oral and written form.
Compliance: Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Physical Demands
Occasional absences; regular attendance required. Requires frequent sitting, occasional walking and standing, talking or hearing, travel between buildings or sites, and light to moderate lifting.
Work Environment
Employee works inside; noise level usually quiet but varies by site and activity.
Job Requirements
Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
