This role owns the company’s public affairs function, advancing brand credibility and business interests through legislative monitoring, relationship development, and cross-functional collaboration.Responsibilities:Leads state and local governmental relations strategy, including relationship development, tracking and reporting on legislation, regulatory activity, and policy issues relevant to the business.Manages economic development relationships, coordinating with home market economic development organizations to advance business interests.Coordinates national industry association engagement, ensuring Milo’s participating across key forums, coalitions, and advocacy channels.Leads community engagement strategy in Milo’s home markets, developing programs aligned with enterprise goals.Manages corporate giving strategy, budgeting for and directing philanthropic investment in alignment with established philanthropy pillars and strategic business needs.Collaborates cross-functionally to develop internal and external communications supporting key initiatives.Facilitates associate external engagement in coordination with cross-functional partners.Tracks stakeholder relationship development in Salesforce CRM and produces timely, consistent reporting on engagement activity and program outcomes.Develops and manages public affairs metrics, monitoring program effectiveness and reporting progress to leadership.This position has food safety responsibilities.Perform other duties as assigned.Skills:Government RelationsPublic AffairsCommunity OutreachStakeholder ManagementStrategic CommunicationsPolicy AnalysisCorporate Social ResponsibilityMedia RelationsSalesforceBudgetingQualifications:Bachelor’s degree required in Communications, Public Policy, Political Science, Public Affairs, or a related field.MBA or advanced leadership degree or certification from an accredited institution preferred.10 or more years of experience, including 5 or more years in governmental affairs, public affairs, or a relevant functional area; or 8 or more years of experience with an advanced degree.Strong industry knowledge of governmental relations, community engagement, and corporate affairs.Demonstrated experience in state and local governmental relations, including legislative monitoring and stakeholder engagement.Proven experience leading cross-functional teams or managing a department required.Ownership:Governmental Relations StrategyCommunity Engagement ProgramsCorporate Giving PortfolioExternal Stakeholder RelationshipsTrade Association EngagementPublic Affairs ReportingMetrics:Active Government RelationshipsLegislative Issues Tracked and ReportedCorporate Giving Disbursement vs. BudgetCommunity Engagement Program ReachTrade Association ParticipationSalesforce Relationship Records MaintainedSupervisory: This position has supervisory responsibilities.
