Shape How People Experience Performance Spaces
We design the systems behind unforgettable live experiences.
Our work sits at the intersection of architecture, technology, and performance – helping bring theatres, arenas, and public assembly venues to life. We’re looking for a Theatre Consultant / Systems Designer who wants to take ownership of that impact, working across disciplines to deliver thoughtful, high‑performing spaces.
Design the Systems Behind Exceptional Performance Spaces
We’re looking for a Theatre Consultant / Systems Designer who operates at the intersection of design leadership, technical expertise, and project delivery.
This role is for someone who doesn’t just execute—but shapes projects: guiding clients, influencing design teams, and translating complex performance requirements into clear, buildable solutions.
The Opportunity
You’ll take ownership of theatrical systems design across a range of venues—from early planning through construction—while serving as a key voice in interdisciplinary teams.
You’ll be trusted to:
- Lead conversations with architects, engineers, and owners
- Define system strategies—not just document them
- Elevate both design quality and technical rigor across projects
What You’ll Do
- Lead venue planning efforts (sightlines, seating geometry, stage/backstage planning)
- Design and integrate theatrical rigging, stage machinery, and lighting systems
- Develop clear, biddable narratives, specifications, and documentation
- Coordinate deeply with architectural, structural, and MEP teams
- Guide projects through Design–Bid–Build, including CA and system verification
- Represent the firm in client and design team settings
What Sets You Apart
- You think in systems, not just components
- You can move between concept, detail, and construction seamlessly
- You’re comfortable leading rooms, not just contributing in them
- You balance design sensitivity with technical precision
Why This Role
- Meaningful ownership and influence on projects
- Direct collaboration with senior design teams and clients
- Hybrid flexibility
- Competitive compensation and full benefits
- Clear path toward principal-level leadership
If you’re ready to move from “strong contributor” to “trusted design leader,” we’d like to hear from you.
- 5+ years relevant experience in theatrical consulting or systems design (2+ years as a Senior Consulant or above)
- Proven experience delivering projects through Design–Bid–Build
- Strong specifications writing (CSI MasterFormat)
- Advanced Revit (preferred) and/or AutoCAD proficiency
- Technical expertise in rigging, stage machinery, and lighting systems integration
- Working understanding of building systems integration and code constraints
