Purpose
The graphic designer is responsible for the day-to-day graphic design needs and overarching visual identity for the School of Architecture.
Responsibilities
Design and create graphic materials for print and digital environments, including branding, reports, presentations, event graphics, signage, social media graphics, digital ads, promotional items, and web designs.
Develop a cohesive visual identity system, resolve design challenges, and serve as art director and production manager for all visual communication pieces.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, vendors, and stakeholders such as the Dean's Office, Student Affairs, Development, Lectures and Exhibitions Committee, and faculty and staff.
Manage printing and production processes: request quotes, produce print‑ready files, conduct press checks, and coordinate delivery.
Develop and manage inventory of marketing materials and assets.
Serve as staff photographer/videographer documenting events, coordinating with professional vendors and student photographers.
Provide photo editing support, ensuring visual content is aligned with brand identity.
Support maintenance of the School of Architecture's web and social media pages, creating graphics and updates.
Assist with administrative tasks in the Dean's Office as needed; collaborate with Communications Coordinator.
Participate in occasional overtime during peak periods and events.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in graphic design, art, or design-related field.
Two years of professional production experience in graphic design.
Knowledge of graphic design principles (typography, color theory, composition).
Strong concept development and iterative design experience.
Proof of high‑quality print and digital graphics (portfolio).
Excellent communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Ability to multitask, handle multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
Proficiency with office software and Adobe Creative Suite.
Current knowledge of industry software and design trends.
Collaborative and independent work skills.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in graphic design, art, or design-related field.
More than required experience.
Professional experience on marketing, communications, or design/production team.
Print production experience for posters, mailers, promotional items.
Experience with social media strategy, photography, videography, graphic design, website design.
Interest in architecture, planning, design, or fine arts.
Knowledge of HTML.
Professional experience in higher education.
Salary
$61,000 (fixed rate)
