Percussion Specialist & Indoor Program Director

Expertise: A strong, demonstrable background in marching battery percussion technique and pedagogy is required.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead an Indoor Percussion program from concept to performance.

Professionalism: Must maintain the highest level of professional decorum with students, staff, and parents.
The Opportunity
The Millbrook Marching Pioneers are seeking a high-caliber Percussion Specialist to join our instructional team. This is a comprehensive role for an educator who wants to lead and develop a program within a culture of high expectations and student ownership.
Key Responsibilities
1. Marching Band Season (Fall):
Technical Instruction: Lead the instruction of the battery in performance technique, marching style, and music literacy.
Design Collaboration: Assist the instructional staff with design elements of the fall production, ensuring the percussion book integrates seamlessly with the visual and musical themes of the show. Composition/arranging of show is a bonus.
Cultural Stewardship: Maintain a professional decorum and foster a positive, nurturing, yet grit-focused culture. You are expected to support the standards of the entire band program, not just the percussion section.
2. Indoor Percussion (Winter/Early Spring):
Program Leadership: Take the lead on the design, choreography, and instruction of the Indoor Percussion program.
Coordination: Work alongside the Band Director and staff to manage rehearsals, logistics, and competitive goals for the indoor season.
3. Recruitment & Future Planning (Spring):
Auditions: Assist in the evaluation and placement of percussionists for the upcoming season during April or May auditions.
Required Schedule
Marching Band Camp: July 21 – August 7 (Weekdays and scheduled evenings).
Fall After-School Rehearsals: August 13 – November 12 (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 2:50 PM – 5:00 PM).
Competitions: All scheduled Saturday contests through the fall.
Indoor Season: Regular weekday/weekend rehearsals and competitions through the winter and early spring (Full schedule TBD).
Spring Auditions: Scheduled dates in April and May.
Pay Rate: Athletic Supplement-$1,525 per year
Assignment: This position is for the 2026-2027 school year
