Director of Social Media & Digital Strategy

The Berman Group is seeking a strategic, creative, and client-facing professional with deep expertise in social media, digital storytelling, and integrated communications. This role will work with senior leadership on social strategy and execution across a diverse portfolio of real estate, luxury, hospitality, finance, and lifestyle clients while managing and mentoring junior team members.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on operator, someone who can develop innovative campaigns, guide content direction, analyze performance, and build strong client relationships while collaborating closely with our Public Relations, Creative Design, and Events divisions to deliver cohesive, multi-channel campaigns. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced agency environment, brings forward‑thinking ideas, and is passionate about helping shape the future growth of an integrated communications division.

This position requires mandatory time in our New York City office, with additional hybrid remote days each week.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior day-to-day client contact, leading strategy discussions, presentations, reporting, and campaign planning.
  • Build strong client relationships while proactively identifying opportunities to expand digital and social media initiatives.
  • Collaborate with our Creative, PR, and Events teams to develop integrated campaigns that combine digital storytelling, experiential marketing, and media visibility.
  • Work with the team on the development and execution of integrated social media and digital strategies across multiple client accounts.
  • Work with leadership to manage, mentor, and oversee junior social media team members, providing guidance on content development, platform management, client communication, and strategic execution.
  • Oversee content calendars, copy development, creative direction, video concepts, and paid/organic social campaigns across platforms.
  • Monitor social media performance metrics, analyze campaign results, and provide strategic recommendations backed by data and insights.
  • Present monthly and quarterly reporting that demonstrates campaign impact, audience growth, and engagement trends.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, platform updates, emerging technologies, and best practices across social media and digital marketing.
  • Introduce fresh ideas, tools, and creative approaches that elevate client campaigns and agency capabilities.

Qualifications

  • 5–8+ years of hands‑on social media and digital strategy experience, preferably within an agency environment or working with real estate, luxury, hospitality, lifestyle, finance, or B2B brands
  • Proven experience managing client relationships and overseeing multi-platform social media campaigns from strategy through execution
  • Strong leadership and team management experience with the ability to mentor junior staff and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and presentation skills
  • Strong understanding of social media analytics, paid and organic campaign strategy, audience development, influencer engagement, and platform best practices
  • Experience collaborating across PR, creative, branding, and events teams to execute integrated campaigns
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and solutions‑driven with the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment
  • Passion for digital culture, emerging trends, and innovative storytelling
  • Deep understanding of social media platforms, audience engagement strategies, and influencer partnerships
  • Understanding of brand strategy, as well as experience in the real estate, construction, or design sectors, is helpful
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field is preferred
