Job Summary
The SBDC Workshop Intern will assist the Small Business Development Center with writing weekly and monthly newsletters and supporting various marketing initiatives. This position provides an excellent opportunity for a motivated self‑starter to gain hands‑on experience in a dynamic work environment.
Student positions are FICA/Medicare exempt only if students are enrolled in classes in the semester the work is performed. To qualify for the exemption, you must be enrolled on a half‑time basis for the Fall, Spring, or Summer.
Key Responsibilities
Newsletter Writing
Draft, edit, and distribute weekly and monthly newsletters.
Collaborate with team members to gather relevant content.
Ensure timely delivery and high‑quality presentation of newsletters.
Marketing & Communications Support
Assist in creating and implementing marketing campaigns.
Update and maintain SBDC’s social media presence.
Conduct market research and analysis as needed.
Administrative Support
Perform general office duties, such as data entry and file management.
Assist with event planning and coordination.
Provide support for other SBDC projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be a current Troy University student enrolled at least half‑time.
High degree of organizational skill and problem‑solving ability; self‑starter mentality.
Respect for details and ability to execute tasks accurately with minimal supervision.
Articulate communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent telephone etiquette and organizational skills.
Desire to learn and grow professionally.
General computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
Flexibility and willingness to assist with various tasks as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in writing, marketing, or related fields.
Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation.
Basic understanding of office operations and administrative tasks.
Work Hours
TBD, 12–19 hours/week
