Broadcast Network Specialist
Provides networking support for the broadcast transmission network and the Field Operations team, including WAN infrastructure as well as microwave and fiber connectivity.

About the Opportunity
This position works onsite five days per week at PBS North Carolina located in Research Triangle Park, NC. UNC System employees are typically required to reside in North Carolina and be within a two‑hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

About the Team
Technology Division manages statewide broadcast network operations and maintenance, studio production infrastructure, information technology, and facilities.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Skills

Associate’s degree in electronics and four years of progressive experience in a broadcast television, radio, and emerging media engineering environment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Competencies

Knowledge of Cisco IOS.

Some statewide travel as needed.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills

Working knowledge of electronic and/or RF, analog/digital principles, techniques, and equipment as applied to various operational areas.

Ability to apply and adapt this knowledge to unique situations and project demands.

Ability to determine appropriate direction in solving complex or unique problems.

Ability to effectively direct team members across multiple units and organizational areas, balancing and responding to competing needs.

Ability to select and convey technical information and concepts verbally and in writing when working with team members, management, clients, and the public.

Ability to work independently and apply judgment in developing, organizing, and managing plans and complex projects.
