About the Role
Ascent Digital Agency is looking for a Social Content Videographer who lives and breathes short-form video. Not a filmmaker. Not a wedding shooter. A scroll-stopper, someone who instinctively knows how to hook a viewer in the first two seconds, tell a story in fifteen, and make a home service business look like a brand worth following.
You’ll be embedded with our creative team in Durango, shooting and editing vertical Reels for clients on video retainers — content that runs both as organic social and paid ads on Meta. This is a high-output, high-impact role. If your camera roll is full of ideas and your edit timeline is where you feel most alive, keep reading.
What You’ll Do
Shoot & Direct
Plan, shoot, and direct short-form vertical video content for multiple client accounts
Capture compelling footage on client job sites, in the field, and in-studio as needed
Concept and execute Reels with a strong hook, clear narrative, and a call-to-action built for conversion
Direct clients and their teams on camera — putting people at ease and pulling out authentic moments
Edit & Deliver
Edit short-form video content optimized for vertical (9:16) format across Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels, and Meta paid placements
Apply motion graphics, text overlays, captions, transitions, and sound design that match platform-native aesthetics
Manage your own edit pipeline — organized, versioned, and delivered on time
Leverage AI-powered editing tools to accelerate production without sacrificing quality
Think Like a Strategist
Understand the difference between organic content and paid ad creative — and tailor your approach accordingly
Stay ahead of short-form video trends, formats, and platform algorithm changes
Bring creative concepts to the table — not just execution, but ideas that move the needle for client campaigns
Collaborate with the Content Coordinator and Client Success team to align video content with broader account strategies
What We’re Looking For
A portfolio that proves it — Reels, short-form vertical video, and social-native content that performs (not just looks good)
Strong shooting skills with a camera (DSLR/mirrorless) and/or iPhone-level mobile production
Proficiency in video editing software — CapCut, Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or equivalent
A genuine understanding of what makes short-form content work for businesses — hooks, pacing, storytelling, CTA
Comfort working across multiple client accounts and industries simultaneously
Self-directed and organized — you manage your own shoot schedule and edit queue without hand-holding
Strong communicator who can collaborate with a creative team and take (and give) clear feedback
High energy, low ego — you work hard, have fun, and make everyone around you better
Nice to Have
Experience creating paid ad creative for Meta (Facebook/Instagram) with an understanding of performance metrics
Background in marketing, media production, or a creative agency environment
Experience with motion graphics or basic animation (After Effects, CapCut templates, etc.)
Familiarity with home service businesses — lawn care, pest control, construction, and the trades
Experience with AI video tools (Runway, CapCut AI, or similar) as part of a production workflow
Compensation
$50,000 – $60,000
annually, depending on experience
