Location: Fairfax, VA, United States

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our team. The role requires a strong understanding of technical concepts and the ability to translate complex information into clear, concise, and accessible documentation for non-technical users. This position can be located at any CGI office in the U.S., with a preferred location of Fairfax, VA; a hybrid working model is acceptable.

Responsibilities

Develop end‑user instruction manuals by creating, editing, and maintaining detailed documentation.

Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other subject matter experts to gather information and translate technical details into user‑friendly content.

Conduct user research and gather user feedback to improve documentation quality and usability.

Ensure consistency in terminology, style, and formatting across all documentation following company standards.

Regularly review and update existing documentation to reflect changes in products, services, or user feedback.

Create visual aids such as diagrams, screenshots, and illustrations using graphic design tools to enhance clarity.

Plan, organize, and manage documentation projects to ensure timely delivery and coordinate with cross‑functional teams.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field.

3‑5 years of experience as a technical writer, preferably in the technology or software industry.

Proven experience creating end‑user instruction manuals and user guides.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high‑quality documentation.

Proficiency using documentation tools such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and content management systems.

Familiarity with graphic design tools such as Adobe Illustrator or Snagit.

Ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts to non‑technical users.

Strong organizational and project management skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to adapt to changing requirements.

Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with HTML, CSS, and basic web design principles.

Familiarity with Scaled Agile (SAFe) development methodologies.

Experience conducting user research and usability testing.

Compensation
The compensation range for this role in the U.S. is $58,000.00 – $123,800.00. Actual pay will depend on skill set, experience, training, and other factors.
