Job Description
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Director will be a senior member of the Strategic Ventures team, having responsibility for end-to-end sourcing, leading due diligence and negotiation and execution of deals, as well as post-close oversight of on‑going relationships. The director will also be responsible for day-to-day management of junior members of the ventures team fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Additionally, the director will drive the modernization of team processes, implement cutting‑edge practices, and ensuring compliance with all the internal back‑office processes.

Familiarity with the start‑up/VC environment and broad network of relationships in the VC and startup ecosystem

Significant and proven experience in business and financial analytics supporting identification, analysis and closing of strategic and financial transactions

Meaningful deal making experience

Board experience

Meaningful, relevant multi‑industry expertise

Team first attitude and a commitment to work in a highly collaborative environment

Strong written and oral communication skills

Develops and maintains external relationships and continuously monitors competitive and market landscape to identify opportunities and create new market insights

Leads network building efforts within the VC community, accelerators, universities and research centers in North America and Europe as well as marketing efforts designed to generate awareness and increase deal flow

Leads all stages of the venture investment process and deal flow, including, but not limited to: identification, origination, valuation, due diligence, and investment recommendations including preparation of transaction documents and supporting materials

Directs cross‑functional internal and external teams to assess opportunities and execute investment transactions including deal terms, definitive agreements, and post transaction matters

Leverages relationships with portfolio companies to enhance strategic and financial benefits to Allstate and supports management of internal relationships, in partnership with principals, to identify key needs and strategic focus areas

Uses professional knowledge to provide recommendations to the business partners and the investment committees

Regularly contributes to leadership team decisions and initiatives

Monitors portfolio post‑closing including business and financial analysis and quarterly accounting reporting

Actively participates on portfolio companies’ boards

Day to day management of the Ventures team (including, but not limited to, team recruitment and management, reporting and performance)

Qualifications
