The Youth Development Enrichment Programs Coordinator provides leadership and oversight for youth enrichment programs, including recreational, educational, arts, wellness, and specialty classes that support the growth and development of children and families. This position creates a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment while fostering positive relationships with participants, families, staff, instructors, and community partners.The coordinator is responsible for the planning and daily operation of programs, staff support and supervision, participant engagement, scheduling, member service, and program growth while ensuring compliance with YMCA policies and safety standards. The ideal candidate is organized, relationship-focused, and passionate about youth development, with strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills that help create meaningful and positive participant experiences aligned with the mission of the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSCoordinate and oversee the daily operations of Youth Development Enrichment Programs at Mid Valley Family YMCA, ensuring high-quality, safe, engaging, nurturing, and inclusive programming aligned with YMCA values and standards.Support the planning and implementation of recreational, educational, arts, wellness, and specialty enrichment activities that promote youth achievement, skill development, creativity, belonging, and positive peer relationships.Plan, lead, and facilitate youth enrichment classes and activities in direct service to participants, including recreational, educational, arts, wellness, and specialty programs that promote creativity, skill development, achievement, and belonging.Serve as an active and engaged leader within programs by building positive relationships with participants, modeling appropriate behavior, and creating a welcoming and supportive environment for children and families.Provide leadership, guidance, onboarding, scheduling support, and ongoing coaching to program staff and instructors to ensure effective program delivery and positive participant experiences.Maintain appropriate supervision of participants at all times and ensure adherence to YMCA safety standards, child abuse prevention policies, and emergency procedures.Foster a positive and nurturing environment by supporting children’s social-emotional development through proactive behavior management, encouragement, and relationship-building.Build and maintain strong relationships with participants, families, staff, school personnel, and community partners while providing excellent member service and effective communication.Support program growth and participant retention through quality programming, family engagement, and community outreach.Maintain program records, attendance, incident reports, schedules, and other required documentation in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.Ensure program spaces, supplies, and equipment are safe, organized, clean, and well-maintained.All other duties assigned by supervisor.Attend staff meetings and trainings, as required.Uphold YMCA policies for safety, supervision, mandated reporting and risk management.Demonstrate the YMCA Core Values of Caring, Respect, Honesty and Responsibility when working with members, guests, volunteers and fellow staff.Demonstrate competencies in, and willingness to develop, in the Cause-Driven Leadership areas of Mission Advancement, Collaboration, Operational Effectiveness and Personal Growth.All other duties as assigned.YMCA LEADERSHIP COMPENTENCIESAdvancing Our Mission & Cause: Provide visionary leadership to the organization and ensure that all resources are mobilized to adapt to new challenges and needs in the communityCompetencies Include: Change Leadership, Engaging Community, Philanthropy, & VolunteerismBuilding Relationships: Connect people to the Y’s cause by developing inclusive relationships,partnerships and collaborations so that Ys can co-create solutions to pressing social needsCompetencies Include: Collaboration, Communication & Influence, & InclusionLeading Operations: Ensure relevance, effectiveness, and sustainability of the organization so that we can continue to fulfill our promise to the communityCompetencies Include: Critical Thinking & Decision Making, Fiscal Management, Functional Expertise, Innovation, & Program/Project ManagementDeveloping & Inspiring Others: Support the holistic development of self and others so that everyone can embrace the Y’s cause, sustain the Y’s culture, and inspire others to take individual and collective action to further our impactCompetencies Include: Emotional Maturity & Developing Self & OthersSupport and uphold the YMCA’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMust be at least 21 years of age.High School Diploma or equivalent required; coursework in child development, recreation, education, human services, or related fields preferred.Previous experience working with youth in enrichment, childcare, recreation, camp, educational, or related settings preferred.Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.Strong organizational, communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills.Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate and engaging youth activities and programs.Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and create an inclusive, welcoming environment.Demonstrated professionalism, emotional maturity, initiative, and leadership abilities.Current First Aid and Adult/Child/Infant CPR certifications required or obtained within 90 days of hire.WORK ENVIRONMENT/MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSAbility to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.Ability to actively participate in and lead youth activities in both indoor and outdoor environments year-round.Ability to supervise and engage with children in active recreational and enrichment settings.Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds.Req #3621
