The Program Supervisor for Early Childhood Education position at the Dickinson-Iron ISD will begin with the 2026-27 fiscal year. This is a full-time, exempt position that offers competitive wages and full benefits. Office is located at the DIISD Willis Center in Kingsford, Michigan, and the position serves Dickinson and Iron Counties. Qualifications

:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education or related field.
A minimum of two years of successful experience in Early Childhood Education or related fields of education, specifically as a classroom coordinator and/or a component coordinator, along with an in-depth knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practice in the education of young children.
A working knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards, Great Start Readiness Standards of Quality, Michigan Licensing and Michigan Child and Adult Care Food Program.
A working knowledge of the coordinating roles of the various components and programs within the Department of Early Childhood Education.
Supervisory experience with a general knowledge of administrative procedures that include sensitivity to staff, parents, children, families and the community.
Successful experience with staff development and evaluation.
Ability to work effectively with staff, parents and families and the community.
Ability to communicate and function with various professional and community groups.
Driving may be necessary for this position which would require a valid driver’s license.

General Description

:

Assists the Director with the administration of programs, implementation of curriculum, evaluation of program activities and staff in accordance with Board of Education Policies and Guidelines. Provide leadership and consultation in planning, supervision of staff and program operation. Promote good public relations by neat appearance of self and proper attitude.
Essential Functions:
Comply with all applicable policies, procedures, rules & regulations.
Be responsible for secondary administrative responsibilities for all programs within the Department of Early Childhood Education.
Coordinate across all components of the program to comply with the Head Start Performance Standards, the Standard of Quality and parameters of State mandates.
Oversee implementation of the High/Scope ,

Partners for a Healthy Baby and Parents as Teachers Curricula and insure developmentally appropriate practice in the classroom, and the parent focused home based options.
Facilitate and coordinate the timely delivery of developmental screening activities in partnership with the Disabilities Coordinator.
Attend planning and placement Committee Meetings involving children enrolled in the program and while transitioning into and from early childhood classrooms when requested to by the Director/Disabilities Coordinator.
Supervise and share responsibility for the overall education and early childhood development services with the Director and the Education & Early Childhood Development Coordinator.
Assist in the coordination of program services within the DIISD and with outside agencies and providers.
Oversee and implement all the program requirements with the staff.
Oversee the development and implementation of the Training and Technical assistance plan including planning/coordination of monthly staff meetings in conjunction with all other Service Area Coordinators .
Participate in staff meetings, and provide leadership and training for workshops, in services and training sessions to further develop necessary skills and knowledge.
Supervise and share responsibility with the Director and with office staff for pre-service and in service training for staff and parents.
Supervise and share responsibility with the Director for all necessary documentation/records.
Supervise and evaluate staff as assigned by the Director.
Oversee and coordinate implementation of the Head Start Self Assessment and Community Needs Assessment process on an annual basis.
Maintain all child, family and personnel records and information in a safe and confidential manner.
Participate in on going professional development, both formal and informal, for enhancement of individual abilities, skills and knowledge required for maximum job performance.
Assist in the recruitment of children.
Assist the Director to insure that staff work in team partnerships for the benefit of enrolled children and families in accordance with ISD Policy, program standards and practice.
Must have regular and reliable attendance.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as a positive role model for DIISD constituents demonstrating how to be a responsible citizen and productive member of society.

Ability to carry out other associated duties as assigned by administration.
