The Role
As the Graphic Designer for Creative Services, you will lead the design development and execution of visual campaigns that support recruiting, retention, academic promotion, reputation enhancement, and community engagement. You will work collaboratively with marketing, communications, web, and program teams to produce high‑quality print, digital, and environmental assets that reflect CWU’s brand.

Job Duties

Serve as creative lead for assigned projects, designing materials that align with CWU’s visual identity.

Produce a wide variety of assets including print and digital publications, program collateral, event branding, email campaigns, and social media graphics.

Implement CWU’s brand visual identity across all university design assets and ensure consistency.

Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to conceptualize, design, and deliver cohesive campaigns.

Partner with academic colleges and programs to create tailored marketing materials.

Collaborate with web developers and digital marketing to maintain visual consistency in digital environments.

Apply digital accessibility best practices in visual design.

Create graphics for large‑format and environmental applications.

Manage production files and coordinate timelines with vendors.

Research design trends and higher‑education marketing strategies.

Adhere to CWU brand guidelines while contributing to the evolution of the visual identity.

Work with project managers to plan and execute creative projects, keeping deadlines and budgets.

Develop and present design concepts for feedback and approval.

Train clients on using templated design elements and assets.

Archive design work in accordance with departmental standards.

Support licensing and brand‑manager processes.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Extensive knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).

Demonstrated ability to tell a visual branded story.

Excellent understanding of design principles.

Strong communication skills and attention to detail (proofreading, editing).

Experience fostering a supportive learning and work environment with students and colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in higher education.

Experience collaborating closely with a marketing team.

Experience supporting brand implementation initiatives within a complex organization.

Knowledge of higher‑education marketing trends and program promotion strategies.

Experience with animation, video, and/or photo production.

Interest in mentoring students from diverse backgrounds.

Commitment to improving access to higher education for students.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
Salary:

Based on the Washington State Classification Listing Range 48 with a minimum annual salary of $51,840 and a maximum of $69,744.

Schedule/Appointment:

Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (1‑hour lunch).

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an indoor office setting with frequent in‑person interactions, extended computer use, and occasional evening or weekend work or travel.
