Job Description:

Develop and create smart, strategic concepts that tackle big issues

Ready to work across platforms, including direct mail, brand identity, broadcast and digital

Translate concept memos from client teams into polished materials for democratic candidates and political organizations

Manage time efficiently to complete multiple assignments simultaneously

Format files correctly to ensure everything we produce is successful and ready to print

Design Pivot internal projects from social media to marketing materials

Collaborate with Creative Director and client teams to develop and problem solve any creative and content issues

Communicate ideas verbally and visually to team members and clients

Attend meetings to discuss upcoming projects, client needs, progress on current work, etc.

Give and receive feedback on projects in a respectful and constructive manner

Address and interpret client edits that result in an optimal finished product

Adapt designs based on constructive feedback from the Design Director and Creative Director

Effectively respond to edits to materials from team members and clients

Maintain flexibility for unexpected and large-scale changes that need to be completed in a timely manner

Create and maintain files for all creative assets and resources, such as software, art materials, and special fonts

Maintain design file structures

Ensure projects are in the right folders, are properly linked, have correct job codes, etc.

Help maintain our digital asset management system

Maintain and continue to expand our internal design tools

Juggling competing demands and prioritizing without sacrificing quality

Takes time to double check personal work as well as the work of other coworkers

Actively looks for document errors while making edits

Communication is vital for all members of this team.

Willingness to roll up sleeves and help colleagues

Requirements:

Portfolio of engaging, strategic work including illustration

Working knowledge of print design, pre-press, and commercial print processes

Proficiency designing in Adobe CC (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)

Ability to collaborate and a willingness to roll up your sleeves to help colleagues

Exceptional attention to detail; please include the word "penguin" in your cover letter

Ability to develop, adhere to, and communicate reasonable timelines

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Commitment to racial equity, social justice, and democratic causes

Previous direct mail or print experience (preferred)

Fluency in Spanish (preferred)

Ability to work PT hours (preferred)

Understanding of digital and social media strategies (preferred)

Prior agency experience (preferred)
