The PMO Director at Landis+Gyr is responsible for establishing, leading, and optimizing the Program Management Office to ensure consistent delivery of complex, multi‑disciplinary programs across the organization. This role involves creating and maintaining PMO frameworks, standards, and best practices to guide project execution and governance. The Director builds and manages a high‑performing program and project management team, drives the adoption of methodologies such as the stage‑gate process, and oversees the planning and execution of the entire R&D program portfolio.

Additionally, the PMO Director develops integrated master schedules and resource forecasts, ensuring cross‑functional alignment among key departments, and supports strategic planning and execution to deliver results that support organizational objectives while navigating challenges associated with large‑scale, cross‑functional initiatives. The PMO Director reports to the VP of R&D and plays a critical leadership role in supporting company growth and innovation through effective program and portfolio management.

Key Responsibilities

Establish and maintain PMO frameworks, standards, and best practices.

Build and lead a high‑performing program and project management organization.

Own the stage‑gate process and drive adoption of methodologies.

Maintain, develop, and update PMO governance, standards, best practices, and reporting related to the PM discipline.

Responsible for program delivery and program results for the Americas R&D program.

Oversee planning and execution of the full program portfolio.

Develop integrated master schedules and resource forecasts.

Ensure cross‑functional alignment across major groups.

Strategic Planning & Execution

Facilitate annual and quarterly portfolio planning.

Align execution with company strategy and customer commitments.

Tools, Systems, and Metrics

Own the program management toolset.

Establish and track KPIs.

Ensure consistent project documentation and cross‑functional communication.

Review and give feedback to teams based on analytics related to project performance and timelines.

Strong technical expertise and business acumen within project management.

Provide technical project management and leadership for every aspect of R&D development efforts.

Strong program/project management and leadership skills and the ability to champion disciplined project management best practices in challenging situations.

Experience in Agile, SCRUM, TDD, and Waterfall methodologies.

Successful record of accomplishment in delivering product projects that include multiple system integrations.

Proven ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.

Ability to communicate openly, honestly, and constructively while treating employees and customers with dignity, respect, and courtesy.

Excellent listening skills and ability to understand information and ideas presented through spoken words.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related discipline.

10+ years of experience in project or program management.

Experience delivering complex hardware + software products.

Strong understanding of RF, embedded systems, and cloud platforms.

Expert in ADO, Jira, MS Project, MS PowerPoint or equivalent tools.

Specialization in complex multi‑million‑dollar programs and with advanced technologies.

Preferred

Experience in AMI, utility metering, or IoT.

PMP, PgMP, SAFe, or equivalent certification.

Experience leading global teams.

Familiarity with hardware build cycles and RF certification.

Previous role in PMO leadership for a R&D program.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Typical indoor office environment with the majority of time spent sitting and working on a computer using keyboard, mouse, and monitor and other standard office equipment.

Occasional business related travel.

Typical office setting. Required to stand; walk; crouch; or handle objects. Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Ability to sit and view computer screen for long periods of time. Ability to see, hear, & speak in English.

Compensation
Pay is in the range of $140,000 – $188,583 per year. The position is eligible for a 401(k) match and consideration for an annual bonus. Salary depends on qualifications, experience, and other factors.
