Job Description
At the College of Arts & Media (CAM), we empower a diverse community of makers, scholars, and innovators to thrive in a rapidly evolving creative industry. Through a blend of critical inquiry, creative exploration, and real‑world engagement, CAM prepares students for lives filled with opportunity, meaning, and purpose. The Film & Television department invites dynamic educators and creative professionals to join our collaborative faculty as a part‑time Lecturer specializing in Screenwriting, an opportunity to inspire and empower tomorrow's filmmakers in the heart of Denver.

Responsibilities

Inspire and train the next cohort of filmmakers with practical, hands‑on experience.

Guide students through real‑world projects and help them develop essential technical and artistic skills.

Teach screenwriting courses for fiction, non‑fiction, and/or episodic television.

Mentor aspiring professionals and contribute to shaping a program known for its collegiality, creative innovation, and commitment to student growth.

Teaching Load

One or two classes per semester (3–6 credit hours each).

Qualifications

Minimum: MFA or BA degree.

Minimum: 3 years of professional screenwriting experience.

Minimum: 2 years of teaching screenwriting experience.

Preferred: MFA.

Preferred: More than 3 years of professional screenwriting experience.

Preferred: Experience teaching screenwriting at the college level.

Knowledge

Extensive knowledge and experience in screenwriting for fiction, non‑fiction, and/or episodic television.

Ability to mentor and inspire students in a dynamic learning environment.

Ability to contribute to a collaborative faculty culture.

Passion for teaching and a desire to mentor and inspire students.

Ability to weigh alternatives and apply creative and technical expertise to a teaching role.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position has been established at $5,371.19 per 3 credit course. The salary for the finalist(s) selected will be based on factors such as internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation and is not eligible for benefits.
