Position Overview
The UAS Pilot / Data Analyst – Civil Services plays a key role in bringing civil engineering, surveying, and construction projects to life through cutting‑edge drone technology. This position blends hands‑on UAS field operations with technical data analysis, collecting high‑quality aerial data and transforming it into accurate maps, models, and reports used for terrain modeling, volume calculations, and surface analysis.

You’ll be responsible for conducting and quality‑checking all aerial drone flights, ensuring data accuracy from takeoff to final deliverable. In addition to technical work, this role supports business growth through strong customer service and collaboration across project teams.

A solid understanding of civil surveying is essential, along with proficiency in Beitzel Corporation’s products and services. This position offers variety and challenge, with a flexible schedule, travel opportunities, and the chance to work extended hours—including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight assignments—as project needs arise.

What You'll Do

Coordinate with the Project Managers, Group Managers, and customers to provide and follow an accurate schedule for collection of flight data

Plan, execute, and document UAS flight missions for construction and excavation sites, ensuring compliance with FAA Part 107 and all safety, environmental, and operational regulations

Conduct pre‑flight planning, airspace reviews, and risk assessments for each mission

Maintain consistent QA/QC procedures for data accuracy, flight documentation, and analysis outputs

Process flight data to create orthomosaics, digital terrain models (DTMs), and 3D site maps for excavation and grading analysis

Identify surface features or inconsistencies that may impact excavation activities to assist with cut‑and‑fill volume calculations as needed

Integrate aerial data with survey control points, GPS datasets, and civil design files

Prepare detailed reports, visual models, and progress maps for use by project managers, engineers, and contractors

Working Conditions

Walk, sit, stand, and drive for extended periods of time

Navi­gate through challenging terrain with difficult access

Talk, hear, read, write and type

Regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Perform duties outdoors in various weather conditions

What You'll Bring

5+ years of FAA approved drone operations and survey data processing experience

FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate required

Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain status as a company approved driver

Experience in excavation, earthworks, or civil site design preferred

Proficiency with drone mapping and data processing software

Experience with GIS, CAD, and 3D modeling tools

Experience with LiDAR and photogrammetry workflows for terrain and volume modeling

Must be a self‑starter with the ability to work independently, under minimal supervision, while maintaining a high level of integrity; strong data visualization and reporting skills
