Sinclair Inc. is hiring: Weather Forecaster/Reporter in Las Vegas

Overview
KSNV in sunny Las Vegas has an opening for Weather Forecaster/Reporter. Meteorologists are encouraged to apply but not required for this position. The job will cover Saturday/Sunday weather with three weekdays focused on general assignment reporting. The successful candidate will also fill in for other station meteorologists on other shifts. Being a social media dynamo is a major plus. You will work closely with producers and managers to tell the weather story of the day and track the next weather maker.

Responsibilities

Daily weathercast creation focused on the day’s weather story and the next weather maker

Post social weather content in accordance with our digital plan

Creating daily weather visuals for all platforms

Cultivating story ideas that fit our bucket structure during reporter days

Participating in special/extended weather or news coverage

Communicating weather events and the daily weather story during content meetings

Qualifications

Proven track record of creating compelling and engaging stories across multiple platforms

Ability to perform well under pressure, experience managing breaking news and meeting strict deadlines

Ability to identify problems and provide solutions

A strong commitment to journalistic standards and ethics

Exceptional people skills with an emphasis on coaching and motivating

Strong understanding of compelling digital content

Minimum of two years as a reporter/weather caster in a television news environment or equivalent

Strong writing skills and a proven track record for getting results on initiatives
