Transmission Design Engineer

As a Transmission Design Engineer, you will design, analyze, and implement the conceptual, preliminary, and final design of transmission and distribution lines to ensure safe and reliable power delivery. You will work under the direction and mentorship of a Project Engineer to develop design calculations, drawings, specifications, and other documents for construction.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesConceptualize and design high-voltage transmission lines, poles, and substation structures, performing structural, electrical, and load flow analyses to ensure system performance and reliabilityUtilize PLS-CADD and other specialized software to create virtual models of transmission lines, generate structural designs, and develop staking plansPrepare appropriate materials lists for transmission components, considering factors like terrain, weather, and electrical loadEnsure designs meet safety, reliability, and regulatory standards, including local, state, and federal regulations and industry codes like NESCDevelop detailed staking sheets that specify pole or structure locations, dimensions, and configurations, providing critical information for field crewsAssemble complete construction packages that include the plan and profile sheets, stringing charts, bills of materials, staking sheets, and foundation detailsReview and provide quality assurance for engineering deliverables, ensuring the accuracy of all technical documentsInterface with clients, contractors, and other engineers to communicate technical details and support project executionCoordinate project timelines and provide technical support during construction and implementation phasesQualificationsBSCE, BSME, or BSEE from an ABET-accredited engineering program is required1+ years of experience in transmission line design preferredEIT certification and plan to obtain PE licenseFundamental knowledge of transmission and distribution engineering principles, codes, and standardsStrong organization and planning skillsExcellent interpersonal and written communication skillsAbility to work in a team environmentCommitment to quality and accuracyStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsGood working knowledge of Excel and AutoCAD a plusBenefitsPaid Time Off (PTO)Eight paid holidaysCompany-paid medical and dental coverage with buy-up optionsVisionCompany-paid life insurance and long-term disability insuranceSupplemental life insurance availableShort-term disability availableFSA and HSA options401(k) w/company matching and profit sharingDiscretionary bonusesEducation assistance
