Teaching Responsibilities
In the area of Theatre History or Performance Studies, primary teaching responsibilities may include teaching lower division General Education Area C/3A courses, such as Introduction to Theatre, Theatre History I, and Theatre History II, with potential opportunity to teach additional courses within expertise pending departmental need.

In the area of Technical Production and Technical Direction, primary teaching responsibilities may include TH 1155 Mainstage Production, TH 2230 Stagecraft I, TH 2255 Technology in Theatrical Design and Technical Production, TH 3330 Stagecraft II, and other design/technical production courses related to expertise, such as TH 2250 Fundamentals of Stage Lighting, TH 2295 Foundations in Theatrical Design, TH 4430 Scenic Design, or TH 4470/71 Select Topics/Lab (to become a regular offering within program curriculum), as well as the independent performance of standard projects related to technical production.

Initial Rank and Salary
Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:

Lecturer A: $5,507-$6,677

Lecturer B: $6,221-$13,224

Lecturer C: $6,825-$14,523

Lecturer D: $8,593-$15,221

Required Qualifications

Theatre Arts related Master of Arts and/or professional equivalent experience is a minimum requirement for those teaching activity or lab sections.

Candidates for lecture classes must have an advanced degree (MA, MFA, Ph.D.) in Theatre Arts centered and/or related studies.

Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching.

Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to those with university-level teaching experience.

Experience developing inclusive and culturally responsive curriculum.

Preference will be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.

Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities.

About the Department
The Theatre and Dance Department is part of the College of Liberal Arts and provides educational opportunities for majors in Theatre, minors in Dance, and in both areas for students from all other campus disciplines.
