Your Mission

We are looking for a Senior VFX Artist to help craft a new, unannounced game for Blizzard. The team values creativity, collaboration, and quality, and seeks contributors aligned with Blizzard values.
As an early member of the development team, you will deliver appealing VFX that showcase gameplay in a dynamic environment with evolving deadlines and priorities.
This role is anticipated to be hybrid, with some on-site work in Irvine, CA, and some from home.
What you bring to the table
Responsibilities
Apply fundamental visual design and animation principles to storytelling through VFX development.
Leverage tools for real-time VFX creation, including Adobe Creative Suite, Maya, Unity, and in-game FX systems.
Collaborate with design to apply lighting, value, color, details, and motion to emphasize gameplay and delight players.
Construct VFX from the ground up with a stable technical foundation, including setup, implementation, and troubleshooting in Unity.
Collaborate with engineers to create VFX that are performant and sustainable, enabling good gameplay experience.
Contribute a positive attitude and the ability to give and receive feedback that elevates team quality.
Maintain passion for games and create gameplay moments that inspire the team and players.
Minimum Requirements
12+ years of experience creating real-time visual effects for games.
Expert-level proficiency with modern game engines (Unity or Unreal).
Knowledge & Skills
Understanding of VFX pipelines from concept to completion with strong stylized art and implementation skills.
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Maya, or similar 3D package, and Unity.
Creative and technically-minded with problem-solving abilities for design and technical challenges.
Key Attributes
Self-motivated with strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
Excellent communication for giving and receiving clear feedback.
Shipped AAA title(s) as a Senior VFX Artist or equivalent experience.
Extra Points
Experience creating real-time VFX on multiple platforms, including mobile.
Experience with advanced VFX tooling (Houdini, Substance, Ember Gen, etc.).
Skills in shader authoring, scripting, or visual scripting tools (Playmaker, Blueprint).
Expertise in 3D, illustration, concept, or related disciplines in game development.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $97,200.00 - $179,900.00 annually. Offer details depend on experience, location, and performance. Incentive compensation may be available but is not guaranteed.
