The School of the Arts (SOA) marketing team is looking for a part-time graphic designer to enhance its visual presence through the creation of professional marketing materials. This role will assist in designing printed and digital materials for the SOA, the Noorda Center for the Performing Arts, and the UVU Museum of Art at Lakemount.

The graphic designer works as a member of the design team and will support the fulfillment of marketing strategy across multiple channels, including printed college publications, printed and digital ads, social media materials, campus digital signage, and event promotional assets. The position requires self‑motivation, strong time‑management skills, independent work, and collaboration as needed. The designer is expected to work in‑office and maintain a 28‑hour work week.

Project Creation: Creates simple design projects from concept to completion, with the support of the Lead Designer. Develops and communicates the creative vision for projects. Attends client meetings to understand their design needs and objectives. Ensures consistency and adherence to brand identity across various design projects. Assists in the creation of basic design layouts for print and digital media under supervision. Creates basic digital graphics and images for websites and social media under supervision. Assists in the production of printed materials, such as brochures and posters.

Project Development: Reviews work with senior designers and incorporates senior designer and client feedback. Works closely with copywriters, photographers, and other creative professionals.

Project Management: Manages several simple projects simultaneously with close supervision, ensuring deadlines are met. Limited client interaction; primarily internal communication and taking instructions from supervisors. Monitors project progress and addresses issues or concerns that arise with senior designers.

Participates in training sessions to enhance skills in design software, techniques, and institutional branding. Adheres to established brand guidelines. Limited role in brand evolution. Explores emerging technologies and trends to keep designs fresh and relevant.

Other duties as assigned.

Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related discipline, and one year of experience in managing a portfolio of creative projects; OR any combination of education and experience totaling five years.

Knowledge of graphic design, typography, and the creative process.

Knowledge of the print production process.

Knowledge of following a branding guide and adhering to brand rules.

Skills in the use of personal computers and related software applications, including Adobe Creative Suite, with an emphasis on Illustrator, Photography, and InDesign.

Skills in problem‑solving and decision‑making.

Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and politely, both verbally and in writing, with clients.

Ability to complete work to the required standards within specified deadlines.
