Position Overview
NRI Staffing is seeking an experienced Temporary Graphic Designer / Senior Communications Specialist to support a mission-driven national organization focused on public health communications and publications. This role requires exceptional graphic design, publication layout, editing, writing, project management, and organizational skills to support multiple communications and design initiatives with strict deadlines.

The ideal candidate is highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite—especially Adobe InDesign—and has demonstrated experience developing high-quality multi-page publications, reports, and branded communications materials.

This position will collaborate closely with communications leadership, publications management, and program teams to produce visually compelling and editorially accurate deliverables across a variety of subject areas.

Key Responsibilities

Design and produce professional multi-page publications, reports, case studies, and communication materials using Adobe InDesign.

Collaborate with communications leaders and program staff to develop concepts, layouts, and visual strategies for assigned projects.

Present initial design drafts, incorporate stakeholder feedback, and revise materials to final production standards.

Ensure all deliverables align with organizational branding and editorial guidelines.

Develop original graphics and illustrations and select appropriate imagery, typography, and color palettes.

Review and proof all final files for visual consistency, formatting accuracy, and production quality.

Manage multiple concurrent design projects while meeting tight deadlines and production schedules.

Develop project timelines, milestones, and workflow tracking tools to support deliverable completion.

Prepare final packaged files for print and digital publication.

Coordinate effectively with internal teams and maintain strong communication throughout project lifecycles.

Provide weekly status updates and progress reports on assigned projects.

Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience

Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign.

Strong working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat.

Expertise in publication layout, typography, composition, and branding.

Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.

Strong copyediting, proofreading, and written communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.

Experience developing both creative and technical written materials.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Familiarity with project management tools and workflow tracking systems.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, or a related field.

Experience supporting communications initiatives within nonprofit, association, healthcare, or public health environments.

Familiarity with Canva, SharePoint, and stock photography platforms such as iStock.
