Position Summary
The Communications Specialist helps Trinity Presbyterian Church tell its story with clarity and grace, ensuring that what the church believes and practices is faithfully reflected in what it says and shows.
Rooted in Trinity’s Intentions—Intentional Love, Genuine Community, Social Courage, Transformational Growth, and Spacious. Faith—this role aligns voice, visuals, and timing across digital and in-person platforms so people can see, understand, and more easily participate in the life and mission of Trinity.
This role also actively builds Trinity’s presence beyond its walls—sharing stories that reflect the heart of the church, increasing visibility in the community, and creating meaningful connection points that attract new people while deepening engagement with those already connected.
Current tools include: Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Facebook, Instagram, Vimeo, Livestream Studio, Church.Online, Renewed Vision, WordPress, DigiSigns, Constant Contact, Realm, Vonage, Wondershare/Filmora, and Canva.
Core Responsibilities
Message & Brand Alignment
Ensure Trinity’s message is clear, consistent, and mission-true across all outward- and inward-facing communications.
Steward a welcoming, accessible voice and visual identity that reflects Trinity’s theology, values, and inclusive culture.
Translate ministry priorities into simple, invitational narratives that help people understand purpose and take next steps.
Digital Presence & Content Experience
Curate an up-to-date, easy-to-navigate website and digital ecosystem that helps guests and members quickly find what they need.
Shape content rhythms (news, stories, social touchpoints) that invite participation and celebrate God’s work among the Trinity community.
Establish a consistent and engaging digital rhythm that keeps Trinity visible, relevant, and connected—balancing sustainability with a more active and creative presence.
Increase the use of video and visual storytelling to bring Trinity’s people, stories, and values to life in authentic and engaging ways.
Develop simple, repeatable video formats (such as testimonials, behind-the-scenes moments, “day in the life” features, and ministry highlights) to create a more dynamic and human digital presence.
Community Presence & Brand Growth
Actively tell Trinity’s story in ways that extend beyond Sunday mornings, building awareness, trust, and connection within the broader community.
Identify and share stories that reflect Trinity’s impact, values, and lived experiences—bringing True North to life in visible and relatable ways.
Increase Trinity’s digital visibility and reach through creative, consistent content that invites curiosity and connection from those not yet engaged.
Partner with staff and members to capture and amplify meaningful moments of ministry, service, and community life.
Campaigns, Events & Ministry Support
Partner with pastors and ministry leaders to plan and pace communications for seasons and events so messaging is timely, clear, and not overwhelming.
Design communication approaches that not only inform but invite participation—encouraging deeper involvement from current members and creating clear, compelling entry points for new people.
Coordinate creative elements (copy, images, short video/audio) that enhance understanding and welcome, rather than distract from the message.
Lead, train, and collaborate with worship and A/V technicians to ensure media elements support participation and accessibility (e.g., lyrics clarity, visuals that assist rather than compete).
Support livestream presence and archives so those engaging remotely feel included and connected.
Offer clear, calm communication when technology changes or issues arise.
Use simple analytics and feedback to understand what best serves people and adjust formats, rhythms, and timing accordingly.
Keep documentation current so knowledge is shared and systems remain sustainable.
Continuously refine tools and processes to strengthen Trinity’s communication systems over time.

Qualifications
Experience in communications, marketing, or digital content (church or nonprofit context preferred).
Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills; able to translate ministry ideas into clear, inviting language.
Comfort with web, social, and basic design and media tools, with willingness to learn systems appropriate to Trinity’s scale.
Organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple timelines with calm and clarity.
Collaborative teammate with pastoral sensitivity who can serve diverse audiences.
