Description
The Marketing Specialist supports the execution of Lexington Co-op’s integrated marketing strategies and activities designed to enhance brand visibility, strengthen community relationships, and maintain a consistent and engaging digital presence. This role assists with social media marketing, content development, event planning, and community outreach efforts, while helping to maintain marketing systems and contributing to campaign execution across platforms.

Requirements
Essential Functions
Social Media Marketing

Support the day-to-day social media marketing activities, including assisting with content scheduling, posting, and monitoring.

Contribute to the development, curation, and publishing of engaging, brand-aligned content across digital channels.

Assist in monitoring social media trends, audience engagement, and platform analytics, providing insights to help inform optimization efforts.

Help respond to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner to support audience engagement.

Maintain awareness of messaging, tone, and branding guidelines to help ensure consistency across digital platforms.

Content Creation & Campaign Support

Assist with developing written, visual, and multimedia content to support marketing campaigns and organizational initiatives.

Support the planning and execution of integrated marketing campaigns across digital and traditional channels.

Assist in maintaining content calendars and help ensure timely delivery of marketing assets.

Community Engagement & Outreach

Support community engagement efforts aimed at strengthening relationships with the local community.

Assist in identifying and engaging with community partners, organizations, and stakeholders.

Participate in community events and outreach opportunities as a representative of the organization.

Contribute to promoting a positive brand image through active participation in community initiatives.

Support Co-op Education initiatives, including related outreach, materials, and promotions.

Event Planning & Logistics Support

Support the planning of marketing-related events, including community events and promotional activities.

Assist with event logistics such as scheduling, vendor communication, and on-site support.

Contribute to event promotion through digital channels and community outreach efforts.

Provide input on event outcomes and suggest potential improvements for future initiatives.

Marketing Systems & Operational Support

Assist in maintaining and updating marketing systems, tools, and databases to help support accuracy and efficiency.

Help track campaign performance metrics and contribute to the preparation of reports on marketing effectiveness.

Support efforts to align marketing activities with organizational branding and compliance standards.

Provide general support to marketing operations, including administrative tasks and project support.

Education & Experience

Associate or bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field preferred.

Two plus years of experience in marketing, social media support, or community engagement, preferred.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency with social media platforms, content creation tools, and marketing software.

Ability to support multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Proficient in social media scheduling and analytics tools.

Creative thinking and ability to generate engaging content.

Proficient with Adobe InDesign software.

Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office Skills.

Demonstrated experience writing and editing a variety of materials including recipes, social media posts, feature stories, blog posts, fact checking, web and educational materials.

Detail oriented.

Friendly and outgoing.

Knowledge of Co-op products.

Ability to read register screen, product labels and shelf labels.

Work Environment and Schedule

24 hours per week. Schedule may vary based on business needs, events, and community outreach activities.

Standing and walking on cement floors

Handling objects that have been handled by the public

Moderate to loud noise conditions

Potential fumes, airborne particles, hazardous materials ranging from natural to chemical (store products, cleaning products, scents from working in a public setting)

Available to work weekends, holidays, mornings and nights

Ability to travel locally once a week up to 20% of the time.
