Position Overview
The Senior Communications Associate provides communications and administrative support to the communications team. In this role, they receive exposure to mainstream and digital media, track media coverage, insert the Partnership’s research into the news cycle, post information to the website, and perform related tasks. The Senior Communications Associate works with the entire communications team and helps coordinate with the organization’s policy teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Use clips and media coverage to spot opportunities to build relationships with reporters

Produce first drafts of blog posts, press statements, video scripts, and social media content

Conduct technical proofreading of marketing emails, web content, etc. for grammar, spelling, and AP style

Coordinate communications interns (Summer, Fall, Spring)

Post and update content on the website (media mentions, documents, blog posts, statements, job listings, staff profiles, etc.)

Compile daily press clips that pertain to the partnership’s mission and work

Assist communications specialists with media outreach

Collaborate with supervisor on pre‑planning media placement strategies in conjunction with newscycle

Maintain and update media lists in Agility and MuckRack

Schedule department meetings and events

Monitor media requests submitted to the general inbox

Compile and distribute weekly communications calendar

Manage subscriptions, invoices, and billing

Organize communication department electronic files

Serve as point of contact for vendors

Staff partnership and coalition events

Support email marketing specialist on building and sending marketing emails, including the weekly "Repro Health Watch" newsletter

Collaborate with Senior Digital Content Specialist to produce social content and monitor trends applicable to the partnership’s work

Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills Required

Experience writing compelling press releases and statements

Experience with social media and content creation for various platforms

Demonstrated track record of responsiveness to email and other departmental communications and requests in a timely manner

Interest in staying on pulse with the latest news and current events pertaining to the partnership’s work

Ability to proactively flag important matters either in the news or in internal conversations

Well organized, with sharp attention to detail, and able to meet deadlines

Capable with technology, including Microsoft Office and Google Drive products

Committed to racial equity and aware of how racism and discrimination create inequities that need to be addressed

Comfortable collaborating with others and giving/receiving feedback

Experience in media or communications, in the women’s movement, on Capitol Hill, or at a non‑profit

Experience using Asana for project management preferred but not required

Experience using website content management systems (e.g., WordPress), email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact, MailChimp, EveryAction), and design tools (e.g., Canva) a plus

Salary and Benefits
The salary range for this role is $70,780–$76,316, based on relevant experience. Employment and Workplace Details
This is a full‑time, DC‑based position with a hybrid schedule that requires a minimum of four days of in‑office work each month. Additional in‑office days may be required depending on role. A probationary period applies during the first six months of employment.

Classification
The National Partnership recognizes a staff bargaining unit, National Partnership United, which is affiliated with the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union/IFPTE Local 70. This position is included in the NP United bargaining unit.
