Position Overview
Under the direction of the Regional Business Director, the Business Development Manager (BDM) will manage and grow Mercury Marine’s Independent Boatbuilder network within the Pacific Northwest. The BDM will build strategic relationships with current and future customers, drive sales volume, market share, and profitability, and ensure compliance with Mercury corporate policies and procedures.

Essential Functions

Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing independent boat builder partners and identify new opportunities.

Coach, consult, and manage partners to achieve measurable sales objectives.

Serve as the internal and external expert on customer, competitive, and market intelligence.

Listen, negotiate, and mediate while protecting company interests.

Develop and present sales strategies, techniques, and product training based on customer feedback and market conditions.

Travel to multiple partner locations; at least 50% overnight travel required.

Communicate customer requirements and request support from other departments.

Collaborate with inside customer accounts, service, and credit personnel to achieve territory sales goals.

Attend Mercury-sponsored events, boat shows, and dealer events on weekends.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Marketing, or equivalent.

Minimum 3+ years of related experience in the Marine or Recreational Industry, or in Sales, Business, or Marketing.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, intranet, and CRM systems.

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel at least 50% overnight.

Strategic and tactical problem-solving abilities.

Sense of urgency and persuasive communication skills.

Working Conditions

Overnight travel required.

Occasional weekend events.

International travel to Canada.

Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated pay range for this position is $86,500 – $126,800 annually, with variability based on candidate qualifications and business needs. The position is eligible for a short‑term incentive program, a 401(k) plan with company match, health, dental, and vision benefits, paid vacation, a wellness program, and additional benefits such as a Health Savings Account and product purchase discounts.
