Transmission Planning Engineer
Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid)
Role Overview:
This role is focused on conducting detailed power system studies, supporting planning models, and identifying upgrades to strengthen the transmission system. The role also includes participation in industry working groups and serving as a subject matter expert on reliability standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform steady-state and dynamic stability power system studies
- Conduct powerflow contingency analysis using PSS/E
- Develop task automations and tools in Python to support system modeling
- Identify and recommend transmission system upgrades
- Provide subject-matter expertise on applicable reliability standards and best practices
Qualifications
- PE license is a plus (for top compensation)
- 2+ years of experience with power flow analysis
- Proficiency with PSS/E, TARA, PowerWorld, and Python
- Familiarity with regional grid operator processes and reliability standards
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary up to $145k
