The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for Director of Client Services, Information Technology. The Director leads the Client Services unit, aligning strategic vision with the mission of the Office of Information Technology (OIT). Responsibilities include developing operational policies, making high‑level programmatic and financial decisions, and driving continuous improvement through data‑driven decision‑making. The role also involves strategic planning, IT governance, and collaboration across campus and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for desktop/endpoint support, computer lifecycle, help desk, application support, cloud collaboration suite, campus ID card services, account and access services, client‑facing initiatives, and distributed IT.
- Develop and maintain operational processes, ensuring compliance with OIT and campus policies.
- Lead university‑level strategic planning, IT governance, and NSHE technology groups.
- Facilitate workgroups, meetings, and committees to advance organizational, university, and NSHE goals.
- Maintain a highly effective, customer‑focused organization that exemplifies OIT values.
- Customer service expectations: listen to customers, help solve problems, demonstrate eagerness and professionalism, take ownership of inquiries, provide timely updates, and understand university operations to better serve stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (required). Preferred: Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Experience (required): Minimum 5 years of senior leadership experience in supervising and managing complex information technology services, including strategic planning, budget management, and organizational change.
- Experience (preferred): Experience in NSHE system‑wide initiatives, multi‑institutional collaborations, IT service transformation, enterprise service management, and ITIL frameworks.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge – Emerging Technologies: Provide guidance on technologies that support university and OIT strategic goals, manage vendor relationships, and keep the institution current with emerging technologies.
- Knowledge – Client‑Services‑Specific: Understand user‑facing technology, software licensing, IT service management frameworks (ITIL), and compliance practices.
- Skills – Leadership: Lead complex IT service organizations at the director level, build high‑performing teams, implement new practices, and deliver enterprise support processes.
- Skills – Planning & Priority Management: Develop and implement long‑term strategic plans aligned with university and NSHE initiatives; optimize resources and budget management.
- Skills – Client‑Services‑Specific: Design enterprise support processes and service frameworks, manage technology teams within a university setting, and facilitate diverse groups to achieve organizational goals.
- Abilities – Leadership: Mentor and develop leadership talent, manage fiscal resources, and influence institutional strategy at the senior level.
- Abilities – Interpersonal & Communication: Communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical audiences, promote service awareness, and represent OIT at university and system‑level committees.
- Abilities – Planning & Priority Management: Prioritize complex requests, develop measurable objectives, and anticipate institutional needs.
