The Head of Marketing & Communications at MPTF is a mission‑critical leadership role responsible for the strategic development, execution, and oversight of all marketing, branding, and communications initiatives for MPTF. This position sits at the intersection of storytelling, brand strategy, and fundraising, serving as a key driver of overall Development success by driving awareness, engagement, and philanthropic support. As a senior leader, the Head of Marketing & Communications ensures that MPTF’s mission, programs, and impact are communicated effectively to key stakeholders, including donors, industry and corporate partners, and the broader entertainment community. The role requires a proactive, innovative approach and a strong understanding of the unique dynamics of marketing within the entertainment industry.
Essential Functions
Develops and implements an integrated marketing and communications strategy aligned with organizational and Development goals
Establishes annual marketing plans with defined KPIs, timelines, and performance metrics.
Works closely with MPTF CEO/President and Chief Development Officer in developing and implementing organization‑wide communications strategies for both internal and external audiences, including all corporate communications.
Monitors and reports on current campaign effectiveness, in collaboration with CEO/President and CDI, adjusting marketing strategies as needed to optimize reach and results.
Works closely with the Development team to support fundraising initiatives, donor acquisition, and stewardship efforts.
Oversees and maintains MPTF’s brand identity, ensuring consistency across all platforms and materials.
Directs all external Development communications, including website, print and digital collateral, and video content.
Works effectively with organization’s communications and marketing vendors and consultants and with MPTF Board members and volunteer Committees dedicated to MPTF branding, marketing and fundraising activities.
Develops targeted marketing approaches that resonate with entertainment industry stakeholders, including studios, networks, agencies, guilds/unions, talent, and beyond.
Proactively identifies new marketing channels, tools, and partnership opportunities, reflecting innovative approaches to audience engagement and brand positioning.
Leads, manages, and develops the marketing team, including goal setting and performance management.
Serves as strategic advisor to senior leadership on marketing and communications matters.
Develops and maintains consistent alliances with entertainment trade publications and digital platforms, including guild and union publication and studio employee and retiree newsletters to advance the organization’s messaging.
Skills Required

Ability to develop long‑term marketing strategies aligned with organizational goals
Demonstrates the administrative and management skills necessary to organize and direct a comprehensive marketing/communications function and the staff involved
Demonstrates the interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) necessary to interact effectively with people in a variety of situations and to oversee all marketing/communications activities and production at MPTF
Knowledge and understanding of the entertainment industry landscape and its unique communication channels and opportunities
Strong relationship building skills applied internally and externally
Demonstrates the analytical skills necessary to evaluate, approve or recommend proposed changes in policy and procedure or staffing levels, as well as forecast function needs
Ability to work in an automated environment, including strong technology skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite and digital technology
Ability to foster and encourage diverse viewpoints and build consensus
Ability to establish policies, procedures, and standards for functions managed
Ability to execute business plans and budgets
Ability to communicate the values of the organization, handle confidential information, and exhibit strong interpersonal skills with both internal and external customers
Demonstrates continued professional growth and development through participation in educational and in‑service training programs
Experience
Minimum seven - ten years of progressively responsible experience in marketing and communications, including three years of leadership and management experience in a corporate or not‑for‑profit environment.
Education
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or post‑graduate work in marketing or related field preferred.
$152,734 to $198,348
Actual compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
