This Opportunity
WSP is looking for a seasoned CAD Designer to join our Earth & Environment team in our Tacoma or Redmond, WA offices. The ideal applicant should possess extensive experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D, particularly in creating drawing sets including civil grading. Candidates are expected to exhibit strong communication skills and the capability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of proficient professionals. The primary responsibilities include drafting civil designs, focusing on earthworks and drainage conveyance structures.

Your Impact

Draft civil grading plans with guidance from engineering and design staff.

Adhere to company and department design standards.

Communicate clearly in writing and verbally to build an internal network of professionals.

Address routine problems with established procedures or ample precedent.

Work under moderate supervision with general work instructions and standardized routines.

Propose ideas on how to execute work assignments.

Perform 2D and 3D drafting to develop working and final drawings.

Provide drafting support to less experienced staff.

Required Qualifications

Associate's degree from an accredited community college or technical institution in computer‑aided design or equivalent.

Minimum 3+ years of relevant post‑education experience in Civil Design.

Proficiency in three‑dimensional modeling, especially using Autodesk Civil 3D 2023 or newer, and familiarity with modern drafting tools and workflows.

Knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record‑keeping requirements.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with others and expressing ideas effectively and professionally to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Self‑leadership with attention to detail, ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.

Ability to work independently under general supervision and as part of a team to meet business objectives.

Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation software, technology, math principles, spreadsheets, and tools.

Track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to WSP's health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.

Ability to work schedules conducive to project‑specific requirements, which may extend beyond the typical workweek.

Experience in plan production and design for civil projects.

Flexibility in daily duties and level of responsibility, including redlining and leading plan production efforts.

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

Collaboration within a multi‑discipline design team to produce construction drawings efficiently.

Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Proficiency in MS Office products.

Compensation
Expected Salary (all locations): $56,600 – $72,300
