Summary

Be the voice of Snowbird, one of the most iconic brands in the industry. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Marketing, the Communications Manager is a core member of the Marketing Division leading Snowbird's external earned storytelling efforts to seek positive media coverage and facilitate resort representation with the media, ski industry, and general public.
Responsibilities

Serve and craft the voice of the brand in partnership with the marketing team.
Secure local, national, and international media coverage through proactive public relations, including press releases, story pitching, media hosting, film shoots, and database management.
Develop an annual press release and media pitch plan aligned with the overall marketing strategy.
Manage snow reporting functions and the resort historian to ensure consistent messaging.
Write, develop, and share key messages on all topics of ski area management.
Serve as spokesperson for the resort, including crisis communications.
Host and coordinate media, influencer, and film familiarization trips and shoots.
Build relationships within the local community and ski industry.
Write, edit, and proof marketing and executive communications as needed.
Contribute to the Marketing Division as a key leader to achieve marketing and company goals.
Maintain a thorough understanding of AP Style writing.
Develop and track the annual budget.
Coordinate commercial photoshoots with group sales and conference services.
Provide live snow reporting details and assets in partnership with the content team.
Attend in‑ and out‑of‑state media functions.
Maintain on‑call availability, including weekends and holidays.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

5+ years of experience in public relations, strategic communications, journalism, or a related field with a proven track record of pitching and placing stories.
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
2+ years of supervisory experience.
Experienced in the ski or travel/tourism industry is preferred.
Must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license with a clean MVR, and available for an on‑call schedule.
Must be able to ski or snowboard at an advanced/expert level and pass a physical capacity screening.

Excellent written and verbal communication, including on‑camera presence and press conference delivery.
Strong AP Style writing and public relations skills.
Strategic communication planning and crisis management ability.
Relationship building and interpersonal skills across diverse personalities.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
Self‑starter who sets goals and operates in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision.
Creative mindset to improve processes.
Basic Microsoft Office proficiency and experience with media tracking platforms and project management tools.
Working Conditions

Work on‑site at Snowbird with occasional work‑from‑home after an introductory period.
Must be able to ski or snowboard at an advanced/expert level and lift up to 25 lbs.
Work may require early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight stays during road closures.
Work environment includes noise, uneven surfaces, and exposure to snow and icy conditions.
