This position requires a consistent weekend schedule, meaning standard days off will be on weekdays.

What You'll Do

Program Yahoo Finance desktop, mobile web, and app experiences with a focus on breaking news, markets coverage, analysis, personal finance, and major tentpole moments.

Utilize approved generative AI tools (such as Google Gemini) to brainstorm, draft, and iterate on high‑performing headlines and mobile push alert variations at scale, optimizing for audience CTR and readability.

Optimize story placement, headlines, thumbnails, framing, and recirculation to improve engagement and keep Yahoo Finance feeling essential throughout the day.

Contribute to a fast, test‑and‑learn culture where strong editorial judgment is paired with performance data, AI‑augmented workflows, and systematic experimentation.

Partner closely with editors, reporters, video, social, product, and analytics teams to align programming decisions with the biggest editorial priorities and audience opportunities.

Work closely with the video teams to identify compelling content and storylines and help surface, package, and distribute them across Yahoo Finance platforms.

Evaluate and program a high volume of syndicated content from a wide range of providers, applying editorial judgment to select stories that fit Yahoo Finance's voice and audience priorities.

Qualifications

3+ years of experience working as an editor at a media organization, with experience in digital media, newsroom programming, audience development, or homepage editing.

Comfort using Chartbeat and other real‑time analytics tools to monitor performance.

Professional experience with headline writing, content curation, copy editing, SEO, Google Trends, and analytics platforms.

A genuine interest in following finance news closely and understanding how major stories affect everyday users as well as active investors.

A sharp instinct for packaging journalism in ways that drive clicks, engagement, and loyalty without sacrificing clarity or trust.

Demonstrated experience utilizing generative AI applications (e.g., Google Gemini, ChatGPT) for structured prompt engineering, copy refinement, and creative brainstorming.

Strong competency in human‑in‑the‑loop editorial governance, showcasing the critical thinking required to validate, fact‑check, and refine AI‑generated text outputs to ensure they align with brand style and voice guidelines.

An AI‑forward mindset with an active interest in identifying repetitive, manual workflow tasks and designing automated or AI‑assisted alternatives to increase editorial speed.

Strong collaboration skills and a calm, solutions‑oriented approach during big news moments.

Preferred Qualifications
