Technical Writer – Senior Level
Cincinnati, Ohio

Dayton T. Brown, Inc. invites applications for a Senior Technical Writer to join our Technical Publications Division based in Cincinnati. This full‑time, on‑site role requires daily in‑person attendance and no remote work.

Responsibilities

Serve as the Senior Technical Writer for S1000D specification technical documentation development.

Support implementation and configuration of a Common Source Database (CSDB).

Accumulate appropriate technical information through research and analysis of engineering drawings, test procedures, design specifications, and software documentation.

Develop technical data by analyzing source engineering data, including Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA), 3‑D models, and drawings.

Create description and operational procedures to support maintenance and operations as required.

Determine library and database reuse of existing authored instructions, adjusting to align with project revisions.

Clean‑sheet authoring, leveraging experience and research to comprehensively author maintenance, operations, and sustainment tasks.

Review technical authors’ work to ensure clear, concise, and accurate documentation.

Establish authoring procedures and workflow with DTB PM; provide input, instructions, or training to the authoring team; update procedures for process improvements.

Collaborate effectively with Subject Matter Experts such as engineers, technicians, and publications personnel.

Actively lead or participate in team meetings and interface with illustrators and quality personnel to support documentation development.

Review, analyze, and determine impact of customer comments and redlines; guide the team to resolve comments and follow through with management or customers.

Ensure assignments are completed in a timely manner to facilitate on‑time delivery of technical data to the customer.

Contribute to continuous improvement objectives to achieve delivery and quality goals.

Travel to customer sites for Validation and Verification events as required.

Required Qualifications

2‑ or 4‑year degree or equivalent experience.

7+ years of experience developing technical publications for commercial or military programs, including SGML/XML tagged data.

Strong experience using EAGLE Publishing System or equivalent.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, 3‑D models, and logistics product data.

Thorough understanding of S1000D specifications (Issue 4.1 or later preferred).

Solid technical knowledge of operational, maintenance, IPB, theory, and troubleshooting information/procedures for aircraft systems.

Strong relationship‑building, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Advanced computer skills and proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.

US Citizenship – Required.

Security Clearance – Active Secret – Required, or the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

Turbine Engine experience.

A&P Certification.
