Job Summary
The Slate Captain is a critical technical and strategic role withinEnrollment Management, serving as the primary administrator andsubject matter expert for Technolutions Slate CRM. This positionmanages all aspects of the Slate platform to support recruitment,graduate and undergraduate admissions, international admissions,financial aid, academic advising, Student Success and CareerDevelopment, and enrollment operations across the entire enrollmentfunnel. The Slate Captain collaborates across the enrollmentdivision and university to optimize system functionality, enhancecommunication strategies, build synergy across departments, andensure seamless operations while supporting data-driven decisionmaking at all levels. Any offer of employment is contingent uponfinal funding allocation for Fiscal Year 2027.
Responsibilities
Slate System Administration - 40%
- Serve as primary Slate administrator with comprehensive oversightof system configuration, maintenance, and optimization across allenrollment functions (graduate and undergraduate admissions,international admissions, financial aid, orientation, yieldprograms, registrar, academic advising, and student success andcareer development).
- Build and maintain complex workflows, rules, decision trees,bins, and automations.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, security roles, and accesscontrols for enrollment management staff and universitypartners.
- Configure application forms, portals, reader applications,financial aid forms, academic advising forms, student success andcareer development forms, and decision release tools.
- Coordinate Slate system updates, test new features, and implementenhancements.
- Monitor system performance, diagnose issues, and implementsolutions to ensure platform stability.
- Maintain integration connections with Student InformationSystems, financial aid platforms, payment processors, andthird-party vendors - Develop a comprehensive plan for thestrategic use of Slate throughout the Enrollment Managementdivision and campus community.
Data Management, Reporting & Analytics -25%
-Design, build, and maintain queries, reports, exports, anddatasets supporting recruitment, admissions (graduate,undergraduate, and international), financial aid, academicadvising, student success, career development, registrar, andenrollment analysis.
-Create executive dashboards and data visualizations for enrollmentleadership and senior administration.
-Build and maintain specialized portals for prospective/currentstudents, deans, faculty, and key stakeholders.
-Generate daily, weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc reports for admissionscounselors, financial aid officers, advisors, student success andcareer development staff, enrollment leadership, and universitystakeholders.
-Ensure data integrity through regular audits, validationprotocols, and quality control measures.
-Collaborate with Institutional Research, IT, and Finance on datagovernance, FERPA compliance, data security, and accuracy.
-Support territory management, enrollment forecasting, financialaid modeling, student success and retention modeling, andpredictive analytics.
-Translate complex data into actionable insights for recruitment,yield, and retention strategies.
-Track key performance indicators across the enrollment funnel frominquiry through graduation.
Communication Strategy & Execution -20%
- Build and deploy sophisticated email campaigns, SMS messages, andmulti-channel communication pathways for prospective graduate andundergraduate students, admitted students, current students, andtheir families.
- Develop personalized, behavior-triggered communication flowsthroughout the entire enrollment cycle.
- Design and optimize event registration systems, campus visitprograms, virtual events, and interview platforms
- Support financial aid communication strategies including awardnotification and verification processes
- A/B test messaging strategies and analyze engagement metrics toimprove communication effectiveness across all enrollmentstages
- Maintain branded email templates, portals, and digitaltouchpoints, ensuring consistent user experience
- Support communication strategies for academic advising, graduateand undergraduate admissions, and student success and careerdevelopment
- Collaborate with Marketing and Communications on integratedenrollment marketing initiatives
Training, Documentation & Support -10%
- Provide comprehensive training to enrollment management staff(graduate and undergraduate admissions, international admissions,financial aid, orientation, academic advising, student success andcareer development) on Slate functionality, best practices, and newfeatures
- Create and maintain system documentation, user guides, standardoperating procedures, and training materials
- Offer ongoing technical support and troubleshooting assistance toSlate users across enrollment functions
- Lead professional development sessions on data literacy,enrollment technology, and CRM best practices
- Serve as liaison to Technolutions for technical supportescalation and feature requests
- Onboard new enrollment staff members on Slate systems andprocesses
- Chair a Slate committee to oversee training and productdevelopment
Strategic Collaboration & Innovation -5%
- Partner with enrollment management leadership to align Slatecapabilities with institutional strategic enrollment goals and netrevenue targets
- Participate in Slate user groups, conferences, and professionaldevelopment opportunities
- Research emerging enrollment technologies and recommendinnovative solutions to enhance operations
- Collaborate with Financial Aid, Registrar, Student Accounts,Bursar, Academic Affairs, and Student Life on cross-functionalenrollment projects
- Support implementation of new recruitment initiatives, yieldprograms, financial aid strategies, student success and retention,and enrollment interventions
- Contribute to strategic enrollment planning and goal-settingprocesses

Required Experience
Minimum two years of hands on leadership experience with Slate orin a similar CRM/database management role.

- Slate Certified Administrator credential or willingness to obtainwithin first year.
Preferred Experience
- 3+ years of experience in higher education enrollment management,admissions, student success, financial aid, or related field.
- Experience with SQL, HTML, CSS, Liquid Markup, orJavaScript.
- Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) andstatistical analysis.
- Experience integrating Slate with Student Information Systems(Banner, PeopleSoft, Workday, etc.) and financial aidplatforms.
Proposed Salary
This position is a pay grade 10. The available salary range is$60,000.00 to $ 73,000.00. Starting salary within this range isbased on relevant years of experience.
