Overview

We partner with dozens of fine art museums around the world that have granted us express permission to use works from their collections as engagement tools. These partnerships allow us to bring extraordinary art directly into senior living communities, memory care facilities, and hospice settings—reaching people at the grassroots level who may never have the opportunity to visit a museum or engage deeply with art otherwise.
Our signature program,

Celebrating the Art Experience , is led by trained volunteers known as

Art Angels . During each session, Art Angels present a curated collection of artworks on a large screen and gently invite participants to share their thoughts, memories, and emotions. There are no right or wrong answers—every perspective is welcomed, validated, and honored.
These experiences are not about art education or critique. Instead, they are designed to uplift participants

psychosocially, cognitively, spiritually, and emotionally . Through shared reflection, art becomes a catalyst for connection—transforming fear, loneliness, and boredom into moments of beauty, joy, and meaning.
As participants engage with the artwork, they often reflect on what matters most in their own lives. This level of openness fosters trust and intimacy, creating space for meaningful conversations, including end-of-life reflections. In these moments, art helps replace fear of dying with gratitude for living—affirming each person’s story, humanity, and worth.

What You’ll Do
As an Art Angel, you will lead one‑hour, group‑based therapeutic art experiences in senior communities, using beautiful digital images of artwork to spark stories, memories, and connection. You will guide gentle conversation, ask open‑ended questions, and create a warm, welcoming space where seniors feel seen, heard, and uplifted.
This is not “art therapy” or a clinical role; it is a relationship‑centered, conversation‑driven experience that celebrates life through art.
Why it matters
Many seniors in our community live with isolation, memory loss, or serious illness — yet they still crave beauty, meaning, and connection. By sharing art with them, you help reduce loneliness, stimulate memories, and restore a sense of dignity and joy.
Every visit becomes a chance to say, “You matter. Your stories matter.”
Where you’ll serve
This opportunity is for Tarrant County.
You will be matched with senior communities (including memory‑care and assisted‑living settings) within approximately 10 miles of your home. We work to keep your service close to where you live so your volunteering is sustainable and fits your life.
When you serve
Weekdays, typically between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Each visit lasts about one hour, plus brief setup and wrap‑up.
Hard commitment

to serve for at least 6 months.
Expected rhythm

1–2 Art Experiences per month (up to 4 maximum).
How It Works
Complete our online application (found here) and provide
One 1‑page written reference (non‑family).
To be provided after initial screening call
Complete a background check through VeriFyi and a brief screening call.
Attend an orientation (in person or virtual) to learn about our mission, seniors, and the Art Angel role.
Shadow at least 6 Art Experiences with experienced Angels over about 2 months, then begin leading your own sessions with ongoing support.
To help with costs, an optional reimbursement of $50 per visit is available, with new Angels limited to 4 presentations per month; the heart of the role is service, not payment.
Who can do it?
We’re seeking people who are both heart‑led and comfortable in front of a group
Retired/Active educators (teachers, professors, school counselors)
Use your rich experience guiding classrooms to inspire seniors through art and story.
Retired/Active nurses, social workers, therapists, and healthcare professionals
Bring your deep empathy and communication skills into a setting focused on connection, not clinical care.
Future educators and helping‑profession students (education, psychology, social work, medical humanities, art, communications, marketing, business)
Gain real‑world experience leading groups, communicating with diverse audiences, and building confidence in public speaking.
Anyone with a flexible weekday schedule, strong public‑speaking skills, and a genuine love for seniors.
Minimum Requirements
Live in Tarrant County or nearby, willing to serve within 10 miles of your home.
Fluent in English and comfortable speaking to small groups.
Tech‑savvy
Can bring your own laptop
Capable of connecting to Wi‑Fi, TVs, or projectors, and troubleshooting basic issues.
Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
In good health, mindful that many residents are immunocompromised.
Able to handle gentle, honest conversations around memory loss and end‑of‑life with compassion and maturity.
Boundaries
You will not provide medical or personal‑care tasks and will not be left alone to care for residents; your role is to present, connect, and celebrate through art.
