Role Overview
The primary purpose of the production supervisor is to supervise all plant production activities on 2nd shift (6:15pm-7am). Responsible for meeting production schedules and standards, producing product in accordance with applicable customer requirements, and maintaining optimum production at the least possible cost while adhering to all Amcor Rigid Packaging USA Inc. safety requirements. Supervises shift maintenance personnel and regular maintenance staff in the absence of the Plant Maintenance Manager.
Responsibilities
Directs the manufacturing and material handling activities on a given shift; ensures employees are performing tasks in accordance with safety policies; trains and supervises hourly employees; administers plant rules and procedures; recommends employees and candidates for hire, promotion, demotion, transfer, disciplinary action and/or termination; effectively manages the work schedule to prevent idle time; maintains standards of quality; drives continuous improvement; implements 5S methodology; maintains safe working conditions; conducts pre‑shift safety meetings; handles employee complaints, suggestions, questions, and conflicts; monitors and approves employee hours worked using the Kronos timekeeping system; reports production and operational metrics at shift end; assists in review of labor and manufacturing costs; coordinates implementation of approved material or method changes; keeps current on technical developments; performs other related duties as requested by the Production Manager, Operations Manager, or Plant Manager.
Qualifications
Minimum two years of college (preferably a bachelor’s degree in business management or an acceptable combination of experience and education); Green Belt certification preferred; minimum three years’ experience in a supervisory position, preferably in plastics manufacturing; strong communication skills; ability to manage and train all shift members; capability to serve as a change agent through continuous improvement and team engagement.
