TXG is seeking a Freelance Creative Director to lead the creative ideation and execution across one of our key client accounts, a prestigious sports brand. This role is responsible for driving culturally relevant, creative, and design-forward experiential work that transforms strategic ideas into immersive brand experiences. This role is structured as a freelance position to support immediate project needs, with potential to transition into a full-time NYC role pending business needs and mutual fit.
The ideal candidate brings a strong point of view within the experiential space, balancing conceptual thinking with hands‑on creative leadership. The ideal candidate will have a refined aesthetic sensibility, a deep understanding of spatial design + storytelling, and the ability to guide projects from early ideation through final execution while maintaining creative integrity throughout.
This role will lead creative development across activations, pop‑ups, installations, live experiences, and integrated campaigns - partnering closely with strategy, design, and production teams to deliver high‑touch, audience‑driven experiences. The position will include travel for onsite execution and production oversight.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Creative Direction & Concept Development Lead the ideation from initial brainstorm through full development of experiential concepts, campaigns, and immersive brand experiences
Translate brand narratives into compelling physical and interactive experiences through spatial storytelling and audience journey design
Partner with design to develop pitch narratives, mood boards, renderings, floor plans, mockups, and presentation materials
Ensure TXG creative and marketing strategies align with client goals and campaign objectives
Pitch and present concepts confidently to clients and serve as a leading voice in meetings, pitches, and presentations
Production & Execution Maintain creative integrity from concept through final execution across all touchpoints
Partner closely with production, fabrication, and technical teams to ensure ideas are feasible, on budget, and delivered to a high standard
Collaborate with technical teams on integrated and technology-forward executions, including digital and interactive elements where appropriate
Know when to lead with design, strategy, storytelling, or marketing tactics, depending on project needs
Cross‑Functional Leadership Collaborate closely with internal teams across strategy, design, and production leadership to move projects forward efficiently
Provide clear direction and feedback to the designers and creative strategists
New Business Support new business efforts through creative strategy, pitch development and presentations
Build strong client relationships through clear communication, strategic thinking and confident creative leadership
Skills & Qualifications Proven experience as a Creative Director at an experiential agency
Strong portfolio that demonstrates conceptual thinking, immersive experiential environments, and high‑touch brand activations
A discerning eye for experiential, spatial, and environmental design
Strong understanding of experiential production, fabrication, materials, and onsite execution
Experience integrating technology into physical experiences
Ability to lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment
Excellent presentation, communication and organizational skills
Availability to work East Coast hours required (NYC‑area candidates and hybrid onsite availability preferred)
