At Faithful Friends Animal Society (FFAS), the Marketing/Communications intern will be responsible for assisting the Development Department in its advertising and promotional efforts. Raising the profile of the organization through social media, communication materials, storytelling, recruitment, and reporting. This includes but is not limited to creating/designing visual content for social media and web, content curation, story development, organization and creation for weekly e‑newsletters and blogs, contributing to the design of print materials, and assisting the Development team with smaller‑scale writing and design requests.
This is an unpaid internship in which the Intern will undertake practical working knowledge and any relevant course credit with an institution of higher education.
The Marketing & Communications intern will report to and be supervised by the Director of Development & Public Relations.
What you will learn/gain:
Multi‑channel marketing skills. Working with digital, print, and peer‑to‑peer channels in marketing campaigns
Project management experience, including how to meet daily, weekly, and long‑term deadlines in a unique environment
Experience using WordPress, Google Analytics, and marketing software
How to apply design theory to non‑profit marketing campaigns
Experience working and communicating directly with a mid‑size non‑profit team
Exposure to many locally‑owned businesses, nonprofits, and organizations in Delaware
What we require:
Basic design skills (familiarity with Canva, or Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop & InDesign)
Some experience with copywriting and blog writing
Knowledge of basic design principles & composition
Experience with content creation and curation for social media platforms including Facebook, Linkedin, TikTok, and Instagram/Reels
Quality verbal communication (small and large group settings) as well as written communication (web, email, newsletters)
Ability to process and implement creative feedback
Experience following social trends
Ability to bring new ideas to the table
Passion for the non‑profit sector and animal welfare industry

Applied your knowledge, skills, and experience to a professional work environment
Built and maintained positive professional relationships
Demonstrated awareness of community and/or organizational issues
Received professional experience that relates to your academic studies and career path
Developed strong networking/mentoring relationships
Duration: Mid August through Mid November
Compensation: This is an unpaid position. Upon completion of the internship in good standing, the intern will receive a letter of recommendation.
