Communications Specialist

This position is a full-time Federal position located at NASA HQ in Washington, DC that pays $85,000 annually. Full-time employees with Alexton also receive paid vacation and sick leave, health benefits, paid short/long term disability, and 401(k) with matching.

Responsibilities

Research, write, edit, and produce materials to inform employees of agency policies, news, events, and programs through a variety of communication tools.

Assist in planning, preparing, communicating, and executing events for the director and employees.

Conduct meetings with executives and managers to coordinate information and provide accurate communication messages.

Research, write, edit, and produce communication plans for agency-wide messaging.

Recommend strategies to improve unit and agency communication.

Develop outreach and communications activities and products to raise awareness and visibility of the office’s products and services.

Establish and maintain mutual communications between stakeholders and industry, universities, other government agencies, and the public.

Create and update communications products in support of the office’s mission, including press releases, brochures, web content, social media, and major reports.

Draft executive level talking points and speeches for the director’s internal or external engagements.

Develop and update content for internally-facing and externally-facing web pages as needed, coordinating with site managers.

Qualifications

Experience with decision-making that involves major uncertainties regarding the most effective approach and methodology for accomplishing work in rapidly evolving Internet technologies.

Experience with online marketing, brand development, and developing strategies for disseminating content across multiple channels, including blogs and social networks.

Experience using multimedia editors such as Adobe Audition, Premiere, Photoshop, CMS platforms, SEO, web metrics software, Adobe Premiere Pro, or Final Cut.

Experience developing and executing online programs, including live events, and producing visual and/or multimedia content such as photos, videos, infographics, and data visualizations.
