Based in Midtown Manhattan, Athlux Design Studio works across major menswear, activewear, sportswear, and lifestyle apparel programs, combining strong trend direction, technical product knowledge, fabric innovation, and commercial execution.
Role Overview

Athlux Design Studio is looking for an enthusiastic and driven Men's Active & Sportswear Designer to join our design team in Midtown Manhattan, New York. This role is ideal for a designer with 5+ years’ experience in menswear design, ideally within activewear, sportswear, performance, or lifestyle apparel. The successful candidate should have a strong understanding of fabric, construction, fit, and garment development, along with a keen eye for trend, innovation, colour, proportion, and styling.
The designer will help develop commercially relevant, trend-right menswear collections across activewear and sportswear categories, working from initial concept through to final product.
Key Responsibilities

Design men’s activewear and sportswear collections from concept through development.
Research and interpret market trends, consumer behaviour, fabric innovation, colour, fit, and styling direction.
Create seasonal design concepts, mood boards, colour palettes, fabric direction, and product ranges.
Develop CADs, sketches, tech packs, and design presentations.
Work closely with overseas product development, sourcing, fabric, and technical teams to ensure designs are achievable, cost-conscious, technically accurate, and commercially viable.
Demonstrate strong knowledge of fabric, trims, garment construction, fit, wash, and finishing techniques.
Review samples, comment on fit and construction, and help drive product improvements.
Stay informed on activewear, sportswear, lifestyle, and performance market trends.
Support customer presentations and internal design reviews when needed.
Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be creative, commercially aware, highly motivated, and passionate about men’s product. They should be able to balance strong design handwriting with technical understanding and commercial awareness.
The successful candidate should have:
5+ years’ experience in men’s design.
Experience in activewear, sportswear, performance, or lifestyle apparel preferred.
Strong understanding of fabric, construction, fit, and garment development.
A keen eye for trend, innovation, proportion, colour, and styling.
Strong CAD, sketching, and presentation skills.
Experience creating tech packs and working with product development teams.
Good understanding of the retail and wholesale marketplace.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Enthusiasm, curiosity, and a proactive approach to design and problem-solving.
Ability to work in a fast-paced studio environment and manage multiple projects at once.
