Role Summary
The position performs complex administrative and professional work at the advanced level, managing, planning, organizing, and evaluating Child Welfare/Adult Services training across the state of West Virginia within the WV Department of Human Services’ Bureau for Social Services.
Key Responsibilities
Provide administrative and program direction for child welfare and adult services training staff.
Develop, plan, implement, and evaluate statewide training projects.
Manage training calendars and schedules.
Supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff.
Coordinate collaborative efforts among health and human service agencies, advocacy groups, institutions, and grantee service providers for training.
Handle program development disciplinary matters, performance improvement, and related actions for child welfare/adult services.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Travel & Logistics
This position requires statewide travel. Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle.
Eligibility & Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (Master’s degree in Social Work preferred).
Experience: Five (5) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in the program area or related field.
Preference for candidates with supervisory experience and social services training experience.
Internal Applicants: Three (3) years within the same Department may substitute for the required experience.
Substitution: Additional education and related experience may substitute based on a year-for-year basis as determined by the Office of Shared Administration Equivalency Chart.
Licensure Requirement
Applicants hired into this classification must obtain licensure as a Social Worker from the West Virginia Board of Social Work within a timeframe set by the appointing agency. Until licensure is obtained, they may not perform duties that require a licensed social worker under state law or Board regulation.
