Responsibilities
Work under the direction of the creative director and often in partnership with a writer, owning visual concepts and solutions that solve an array of creative challenges while maintaining or developing optimal design workflow.
Oversee and be hands‑on in the creation of visual designs and systems, typography, logos, icons, and more, applying design principles such as color, typography, photographic selection, organization, and usability.
Conceptualize and design solutions that are on brief, on brand, and leverage brand style guides and strategic principles.
Concept, assign, and direct designers, production staff, and vendors to fulfill the creative vision.
Prepare flawless deliverables for handoff to developers, producers, and clients.
Present and defend solutions to other creatives, account leaders, and clients.
Thrive on interdisciplinary collaboration with copywriters, designers, project managers, strategists, and development teams.
Communicate with clients and internal teams effectively and professionally.
Manage and mentor more junior art directors and designers.
Basic Qualifications
At least 5 years of design experience in B2B or B2C client work.
At least 3 years of work experience in an agency environment.
Portfolio or samples demonstrating smart, brand‑building designs and executions, compelling visual solutions, design, and interactive experiences.
Track record of diverse experiences and an understanding of current visual trends with a current aesthetic sensibility.
Previous experience working within a creative agency or equivalent industry experience across all media—including digital, social, film, long‑form content, and print.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in design, visual arts, advertising, digital media, or related field.
Comfortable presenting and defending work to internal teams and clients.
Expertise in strategic brainstorming, brand design, and campaign development.
Experience with Telecomm, Media and Technology (CMT) industry clients.
Experience in using GenAI as part of your workflow.
Ability to multitask, manage simultaneous projects, and meet tight deadlines in a fast‑paced, ever‑changing environment.
Experience across all media platforms—digital, social, film, long‑form content, and print.
Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, etc.) and Figma.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in scaled AOR engagements at a design level.
Portfolio includes award‑winning, industry‑acclaimed work for craft and creativity (e.g., OneShow, AD&D, Cannes, Webbys, Emmys, Andys, Effies, ADC).
Motion graphics or illustration skills a plus.
Participation in new business initiatives.
Photo/video shoot direction experience.
Compensation
Salary ranges vary by location:
California: $54,900 – $120,000
Colorado: $54,900 – $103,700
District of Columbia: $58,400 – $110,400
Illinois: $50,800 – $103,700
Minnesota: $54,900 – $103,700
Maryland: $54,900 – $103,700
New York/New Jersey: $50,800 – $120,000
Washington: $58,400 – $110,400
